We didn't have one at home, and I hadn't ever heard of one, so my mental image of such a device was a robot that would pick up and answer the phone. My dad was real confused about my request to go to his office so that I could see his answering machine.

And it still works and is sitting next to me almost a decade later.

When my sister and I left the house in thr mid-2000s, my mom moved to a new place for the first time since like 1988. I had to beg and plead with her to not bring her VHS tapes to the new place no mom you don't need your tape of the oj verdict no mom you don't need season 3 episodes 4 through 7 of Murphy Brown She moved them all then threw them away a couple weeks later when she got around to unpacking them.

It's actually cool to go back and see those half hour team highlight reels they've done ever year since forever, segments on the greatest teams and players with footage you don't see much anymore, or profiles of players that were big at the time that are barely remembered now, like Wendell Tyler or Wes Chandler. I miss Steve Sabol.

Surprisingly, the follies collections are about the only old NFL Films productions (Other than the half hour Super Bowl highlight films) that NFL Network replays with any regularity. Like, I want to say they show them opposite Monday Night Football or something like that.
