Batman Forever is actually good I think. A waste of Two Face and Tommy Lee Jones but overall it's not bad. I think it's way better than Batman Returns to be honest. Returns has like 15 total minutes of Batman and it's mostly just the fights.

Partially, yes; Nolan had had a boner for IMAX for years until Warner Bros. gave him the money to use it to shoot some sequences for The Dark Knight (I think the bank heist, the police van chase, the Hong Kong sequence and maybe the sequence near the end when Batman goes after Joker in the unfinished tower), then he went and shot almost half of Rises in IMAX.

I also think any time Michael Keaton is Bruce Wayne in that movie he's really funny and weird. I kind of love Batman Returns.

Cue a couple of months ago, when his mother was mentioning how much he loved it now. A lot of things can change in a couple of years I guess.

So that was a flub by the theater?

I think 3D might finally be on the chopping block. This hasn't been happening at my AMC – if there's an IMAX 3D version, that's the only IMAX you get – but man would it be great. And, yeah, I really value the rare non-3D IMAX movies that get released. It actually increases the odds I'll go see a movie, and go see it sooner than later before it has to give up the IMAX screen to a newer release. It's because they got a cinematographer known for his documentary-realistic style (same guy did District 9, and so-on), but no other aspect of the production takes advantage of that.

Cap 2, which I like a good bit, was good when the action was close range, or on the scale of maybe a dozen dudes involved at once doing mostly humanity possible things. Every time it went for big CGI setpieces that were supposed to be spectacular it was kinda just... bad. I want to be wrong but Civil War seems like a case of a movie explicitly playing to the weaknesses of the filmmakers involved instead of their strengths.

There's no point in using deliberately 'off' framing to sell the realism of the effect if you're going to undercut it like that.

Just chiming in to say if youre one of those people still hoping 3D is a fad thats going to go away please just give up that hope and move on, itll never happen, its here to stay and itll literally be here till you die. Kids dont give two fucks about 3D being "rear end" like some adults and we have an entire generation that will have been raised on 3D movies in theaters and that will be the norm for them for animated and event films. Conversion tech is crazy good now and soon you wont even need 3D cameras as depth sensors and light field cameras become better and better. 3D is only getting cheaper and easier to produce and it makes plenty of extra profit for studios. Its okay though youll have VR movies to bitch at as the next supposed passing fad.

Like you have Cap falling out of a jet and smashing a dude into a car but they choose a really odd angle looking through the car at the dude's back(?). Then the idea of him beaning the guy and catching the shield through another car window is cool but it's done in a really undynamic way. Not filling me with a ton of confidence at the moment. computer parts posted:Those cars really are the stars of the show. Yeah seriously. Eventually one of these movies is going to be filmed entirely through POV shots of someone in (or who is) a car.

Yeah I like all of the fun ideas for the action (Cap's cool shield tricks, Sam using his wings as a makeshift riot shield as well as spinning into a little ball for a second, Witch's force field and team combo) so hopefully they can tighten up the editing to make it flow a little better? (it seems choppy in places so you get these little "jumps" in the action)
