As someone who actually went through a psych program and has everafter had to deal with idiots who think they know everything because they took a 101 class, they really need to take Freud out of 101 and relegate it (and the other batshit but historically relevant stuff, hello Jung) to a 300-level class called like, history and foundations of psychology. Even make it required, I don't care. But if one more 19yo freshman tries to talk to me about Freud, I'm going to throatpunch them.

They just fit perfectly into story structure, so they're really useful for writing. Unfortunately, that means there are people who still buy into all of it as fact.
