How about the electric tale of pikachu, the first pokemon manga, where the artist drew every female character with torpedo tits and thongs? Including kids like misty. Nintendo is usually pretty careful about that sort of poo poo.

There was an article about the censorship of that series though, comparing the original to the US version, and a lot of it was basically just lopping off most female character's breasts and MSPainting longer pants/dresses on others. Can't find it at the moment unfortunately, but it was an interesting read, especially with regards to the author of the manga(and about how Nintendo did not condone his portrayal of various characters, despite him doing four full volumes of the series). this is the US version of the above image, as well  I found all four volumes in a local comic shop's discount bin for 2 bucks each in 2003, so I picked them up and they're actually really pretty good, as someone who normally doesn't really do pokemon stuff, it's a really neat fantastical world setting. I remember reading some of those in the 2nd Grade and getting really uncomfortable that someone said "drat" in the Haunter issue. They said a bad word  .

I remember hearing about how dark that thing got. Like, the Elite Four weren't some trainer elite, they were a group of eco-terrorists who wanted Pokemon to rule the world. So for example Lance was a maniac who wanted to burn down everything to make a paradise for dragons and such? And you had people and pokemon actually dying like the image above, and team Rocket wasn't a harmless joke, and so on.

The real answer is that this was right after the company that created Transformers merged with Tomy, a company best known for creating those figures your roommate keeps buying on ebay that you have to hide when your parents come by. They merged because Takara was going bankrupt and Tomy was making record profits.
