Experiencing Go! live was the most fun poo poo e: Also, the band put up the entire album on YouTube in a playlist, making it ridiculously easy to listen to, which is super cool of them. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7CZ4TImzrFlnd8hl5XaQJy5azWrIWu3o&nohtml5=False Rageaholic fucked around with this message at 22:22 on Apr 8, 2016 |

Parquet Courts is good but they were definitely a grower for me. It took a few plays to appreciate Light Up Gold and it seems like it'll be the same way for the newest album.

New M83 album is good but like a third of the songs sound like extended cuts of the theme to a primetime 1986 dramedy starring Angela Lansbury or Tom Selleck (Moon Crystal esp.).

Yeah the new M83 is somewhere in between yacht rock and tv show anthems.

And Good House is just beautiful. This is the best thing I've heard so far in 2016 and would probably be a contender for AOTY for me if I didn't already know the new Swans will take those honors

The ship has probably sailed, but I was the right amount of junk to really enjoy the set. It helped that he had good openers: Lizzo, who owns, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hukwN47gvA, who was entertaining as hell.

This Deakin album is pretty loving meager - ambient noise tracks aside, it's like 25 minutes and 4 tracks long - that being said, I've listened to "Just Am" about 3.000 times today. What a track!

There's a very cool Spotify playlist by an artist called WHITE that I've been listening to a lot lately: https://open.spotify.com/user/calledwhite/playlist/3WbewNHnfBzK3lndN1RRI4 It's turned me onto a few bands I haven't heard of before, the newest being this great Scottish post-punk band called Holy Esque. They've been around for a while so they may not be news to most of the posters here, but I guess they released their first LP a few months ago and I didn't hear a thing about it. They're very good and their singer's voice is incredible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtplUfQTRqY WHITE seems to be alright too, even if I like their taste in music significantly more than their music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScMy7NMMPJ8

Saw them a few years ago, and excited to see how much better they've become as a live band. It was a pretty excellent concert; Lauren Mayberry can really belt it out. As pretentious as it sounds, there's also an air or authenticity that keeps the band separated from mainstream pop. They all seem to really enjoy being there, they look like they're having fun, and they're overall very energetic. The banter between songs seemed wasn't canned and seemed fresh, which is what led to them inviting the furry audience members on stage to impromptu background dance for a couple songs.

Just be prepared to watch through a sea of phone screens. Their crowds tend to be particularly bad about that. Or maybe I'm just old now and this is reality, which is just as likely

When I saw St. Vincent right before her show started a computer voice came over the PA to ask kindly not to use your phones to record/photograph. Also when I saw Father John Misty there was a neon light setup behind him saying No Photography.. and then near the end of the show changed another color and flashed with the no part off PHOTOGRAPHY. Almost everyone listened to both, so I think if the artist cares nowadays, the audience will mostly abide.

Over the weekend I payed virtually nothing to get into a show with three local bands and the head liner that recently moved here called Queen Kwong. Great gritty indie rock set with her BF being Wes Borland who showed up to the gig as her lead guitarists. If you're into lady vocals, like I am, and a heavy punk rock distortion sound, really worth a check. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEW-5cyDzi8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkLXIbZ78Ws

I have a Jukely ticket for a sold out Wild Nothing show tonight. I'm not that excited about their live show but Whitney is opening and I'm pretty pumped to see what they play live with only two singles out at the moment. Whitney is an upstart of former Smith Western members that sounds a little America/Jackson Browne with an indie twinge. Their first single No Woman is excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGKN6qiDqnk

That is bizarre. One of my old mates from way back did all of their videos for a while and was constantly talking about them last time I visited. I thought they were just a local OKC thing, had no idea they had a national profile now. Pretty cool tho.
