If you want to invent a franchise that a certain breed of nerd will go bonkers for, populate it with a cast of characters that all follow a set of rigid design "rules" while still having one or two distinguishing traits. Sailor Moon, Sonic, Stephen Universe, My Little Pony, Homestuck and Pokemon all have pages and pages of Original the Characters on DeviantArt, so I guess it has to do with the invitation to be creative but with most of the work already done for you.

The comic itself has a toxic relationship with the audience where readers can suggest actions but the protagonist is weak, unskilled and naive and bad things keep happening to the her no matter how good the suggestions are
