I want to be an specialist umpire that only calls holding the ball decisions. I'll do that bend over wave hands thing while screaming BALL into the umpire mic and it'll be amazing.

Colyer has agreed to a new deal through the end of 2019. Really happy about that, hopefully continues to build on where he left off before he got injured last year. Heppell has indicated he wants to come back...last two big fish are Hurley and Hooker...still get the feeling at least one of them will move on, Hooker more likely but apparently they have both really taken a liking to Woosha so who knows.

It's going to be a big challenge to keep both. Freo will be chasing Hooker really hard and there are at least three other Melbourne based teams that are after Hurley.

Yeah I'd say keeping both will be tough but of the two I think Hooker is the more likely to depart with Freo probably going to throw absolutely everything at him and he's from Perth and all. He would definitely be taking a pay cut to stay with Essendon so I can see the only reason for staying being loyalty to team mates. Heard a lot of chatter about a lot depending on Jobe, that if he comes back for more than a year then some of the others are likely to follow.

I'd only be really interested in Hurley if you could get him without giving up any picks as part of the deal. I wouldn't even complain too much if the AFL treated him as an unrestricted FA's so the Dons got compo. The thought of a Saints defense consisting of Hurley, Carlisle and Goddard is delightful.

I think you'll find he'll be slotting in alongside Daniel Talia and Jake Lever

No no, a week before, and then the evening after he's signed and presented to the fans by the club the news will hit that he's being charged with assault, and racial vilification for calling the driver a "Paki oval office" while doing it

I recall a similar incident (maybe the same one) where the word used was 'dark' rather than 'black', and the guy claimed he'd actually used the word 'dumb'.

It wouldn't surprise me, those guys ended up really close after going through all that together. One version has it that most of them have signed on and the club is releasing it at opportune times for PR. I was at some C31 footy show thing tonight and Cloke and Heppell were there; Heppell kept referring to Essendon as 'us' and 'we' so he won't be far away either I suspect.

I swear on the life of my kids that will stop defenders riding herd on the ball over the boundry or grabbing it and falling over the line instantly. We might want to get a huge supply of balls tho... Also defenders.

Get rid of umpires and just have the captains decide free kicks again. Strip Lou Codge of his captaincy first.

If you also got rid of the bullshit tribunal system and let them nut it out after each game I'd be on board 100%. Like: 'He broke his jaw by punching him and he will be out four weeks so let's break his jaw and he will be out four weeks.'

The argument that people who do things full time are worse at it because they think about it 24/7 is such a ridiculous bullshit argument that Kennedy should be removed from the job just for having suggested it.

My mind tells me that Melbourne should beat Richmond. We are in better form, we match up really well against them, they might be going in without Deledio, we are getting Vince and Garlett back in the side. But my soul screams at me that we will never again win two games in a row.

Less, I got Hawthorn (not by a real lot), Sydney (just), Norf (just), Footscray (by plenty), Port (just) GWS (just) Fremantle (if they can't beat Carlton at home, well...) Melbourne (gently caress knows why but as has been discussed, Richmond) and Collingwood. I reckon I'll be doing well to get 6 this round.

David King used an attack/defence matrix on 360 last night over the first 4 rounds. Was actually interesting to see how near the mark Melbourne are. Part of that is due to opposition, GWS had key players missing so the only good team we have faced is North, but still encouraging,

Here's a quick and messy table of how hard each team's draw has been so far, based only on this season's performance so far. With only four games each I can't really read too much into it (though it comes into its own later in the season). I note that Brisbane and Fremantle have played top six sides exclusively.code:

Eagles going with Fraser McInnes to replace lycett, instead of Giles. Interesting choice! Must not have much faith in the Sydney rucks, + trying to stretch their defence. Hope it doesn't backfire.
