I've never understood the point of the Trump pivot. Is there anyone who is going to be convinced by it? If you are going to lose, lose as Trump, don't pretend to be Romney.

90% of the Republican Party would have come around either way, and that 10% who are committed to NeverTrump are going to remain NeverTrump regardless of what Trump does.

i think the hope is that the primary is really only followed by a subset of a subset of a subset of really committed voters, so not even the fair-weather republicans or RINOs or libtards or independent-but-R-leaning people are paying attention, so TRUMP got to say all this bonkers poo poo while no one was watching, but now he has to straighten up and fly right in order to actually run against hilldawg. it's yet to be seen whether or not the idea that nobody was paying attention to TRUMP's antics is accurate, but i think that's the logic

You should move to Oregon.

No, really.

Obviously Portland (my hometown), Eugene and Ashland are not your scene, but the rest of the state is very moderate, leaning conservative East of the Cascades. Clean air, clean water. Good beer, good pot and cheap cigarettes. Plus the goddamn best hunting, fishing and camping in the country. While socially liberal, we're pretty libertarian when it comes to everything else, especially Guns. No Sales Tax, and the Property Taxes are only a problem in the more conventionally liberal Portland and Ashland. You'd fit in really well in Roseburg, Medford, Bend, Redmond, Hood River or The Dalles. I'm pretty sure Burns would be too conservative even for you though.

hey remember this?

quote:

Romney senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom was asked on CNN whether Romney may be forced so far to the right by rivals Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich in the primary race that it might hurt him if he's the party's nominee in the fall. Fehrnstrom responded: "I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It's almost like an Etch A Sketch — you can kind of shake it up and we start all over again."
How'd that work out for Romney?

This is probably true and also representative of how insane their media bubble has become that they don't even understand that it has been leaking all over the mainstream media audience for years for being so goddamn ridiculous. And they forgot all of this stuff is recorded, remember when Romney's 47% recording was considered to be a major contributing factor to him losing the election?

Silent Majority
The Don
LORD COMMANDER OF THE UKRAINIAN ARMED FORCES
The slot in his helm limits Christie's vision to what was before him, but he turns his head to see three Crooze galleys beached on the bank of the Hudson, and a fourth standing well out in the river, flinging barrels of attack ads from a catapult.

"Wedge," Christie commands, as his men stream out of the sally port. They form a spearhead, with him at the point. Ser Eric Trump takes the place to his right, the green flames shimmering on his golden armor, his dead eyes shining passionlessly through his helm. On the left, Christie is surprised to see Barron Trump, sword in hand.

"You're too young," he says immediately, "go back."

"I'm your squire, my lord."

Christie spares no time for argument. "With me, then. Stay close."

They ride knee to knee, following the line of the river. Trump's standard streams gold and sable from Ser Eric' staff. They go from walk to trot, wheeling wide around the base of Trump Tower. Ahead looms the Trump Gate and a surging mob of interns wrestling with a huge ram, a shaft of black oak with a rat-shaped head.

"Lances," Christie commands. They speed to a gallop.

Beneath the gate men are turning, trying to brace for the shock. Christie lifts his axe and shouts, "MAGA!" Other voices take up the cry, and now the arrowhead flies, a long stream of steel and silk, pounding hooves and sharp blades kissed by fire...
