As long as all are in the same hex they'll be fine. If you put all 6 of em in the same task force you'll get severe ops penalties. I'm not sure on details though.

I strip the Battleships from the Kiddo Butai and send them out on their own. Its the armoured cruisers that find a target though. They bring her down with little trouble.

60kg Bombs are not going to do all that much.

There are a lot of damaged, but not sunk Royal Navy ships sailing around – We also hit the Wrong Enterprise again.

This at least tells me where the enemy are keeping some of their planes.

The men at Port Moresby are low on supplies and dealing with heavy forts – but at least these are mostly disabled squads.

A good day here – their losses are actually higher than ours!

Not much to report on here, we're still making headway in Java, but waiting on the marching as normal.

The Allied Navies are having a bad few weeks, and I like it.

We have another go at sinking the Wrong Enterprise. We do sink the Decoy though!

The target rich environment seems to be drying up.

That's a decent sized AP.

Another wave of troops break against the walls of Singapore, but we are wearing them down – this now needs to be a war of attrition.

We attack at Moulmien again, to the south, you can see the reinforcements coming in.

18 Operational losses? Looks like we took out a ship with a squadron aboard.

Dead Decoy. No more jokes there.

The Battleships find their targets, but the battle is inconclusive, although we do leave on enemy ship burning.

We send our planes out to follow up the strike.

Some of these ships have to sink at some point.

We continue to pile on the bombs. This is a massive concentration of Naval power really.

Fresh troops arrive at Moulmien.

So, did any of those ships go down?

That's one more strike – if its right of course.

Hopefully the AI will repeat this shitstorm all over again with its fleet carriers instead. Though by that time we may be on the losing side of the exchange.

The skirmishes continue in the Java sea.

We savage the HMS Cornwall.

Its not even safe on the other side on Java.

Looks like the Boise is still around – for now.

Even if we can't sink most of these, the Allied ship yards are going to be crammed for months after this.

He ain't no fortunate son.

We launch another attack on Singapore.

We have defiantly turned the corner here.

We have the forces to take Moulmein now.

We got a good number of hits in today.

So, one of our ships just went and sunk it seems.

Luganville continues to be bombed.

The British Battleships are still around!

We pile on the hits.

Two oilers? Very nice.

We continue to push at Singapore.

We push back an enemy unit, but they have marched troops back into Batavia, before out own men can catch up.

The day has arrived! The enemy take massive casualties. We shall now rest up and reorganise our units before marching on.

There is a bloody day of fighting north of Hankow as we try and stop even more enemy troops from reaching the city.

Fighting continues at Moulmien.

Taking Changsha with the damage entailed causes a 325 point jump in our direction. Shame we have no enemy ships reported sunk.

Or torpedoes. I'd imagine battleships are pretty resistant to dive-bomber attack. Might put them in drydock for a while, but I doubt either is in danger of sinking.

On the other hand, I imagine there's a better chance of bombs actually exploding inside the ship instead of going right through them with battleships.

Leperflesh
May 17, 2007

It looks like 100% of the attacks on those battleships and cruiser formations are coming from carrier-based planes, even though there's an airstrip right there in Semarang. Is it too small or out of supplies or something? Getting some ground-based torpedo sorties going would spare the expensive carrier sorties, not to mention the irreplaceable high-quality carrier pilots.

I can't remember in what specific scenario I did this but I kept bombing the Yamato in harbor over and over. For whatever reason I didn't have torpedos, but none of the bombs would ever penetrate. Eventually the ship was still afloat with 99 systems damage.

They probably won't sink, but he can slow them down to a floating husk on the water that will be easy prey for a sub or surface ship.

At longer ranges torpedo bombers have to carry lighter bombs instead. Also, the game tracks torpedoes individually, the the carrier may well be out. Bombs you get for free.
