10 Billion Days and a Hundred Billion Nights is an odd interesting book. It kind of lost me once it transitioned from historical events mixed with sci-fi to full on sci-fi after the protagonists woke up in the ruins of Tokyo, but even then, it has a very fluid otherworldly quality to it, since the nature of the characters is never fully explained, and you sort of assume that Asura, Plato, and Buddha are all full on cyborgs at that point since they themselves don't question their existence till the very end. Ironically, the most normal section of the book is Jesus's crucifixion, since it's mostly Pontius Pilate not wanting to deal with it. Anyways, an interesting read, pondering the end of all things and the nature of self. The first half is pretty neat, while the second half is a bit messy, though you get Buddha dueling Jesus in the ruins of Tokyo.

Years ago I remember watching or reading something where the main character would use their powers, and each time they did it they'd be a little less human. They had a ring or something which showed them getting closer and closer to not being human whenver this happened.

EDIT: Pretty sure it was the the Mister Monday series by Garth Nix whoops

Not pictured: the short one floats, and the others besides the red-headed can materialize wings.

it's the V sign, usually signifying either "victory" or "peace". it's fairly common throughout both the british commonwealth and east asia, and apparently less well-known in the US. also don't give it with the back of your hand or else it becomes an insult similar to giving someone the finger

I was actually born on the Tachibana (July 7), so I have a fuckton of birthdays. Most notable that come to mind are Ichigo from Bleach and Senjougahara from Monogatari.
