I don't really care, it just seemed to me a sign, combined with the leaks and early promotional art, that you had to make your own bonfires at one point in development and they cut it and just activated all of them.

It feels like they intended to have bosses give you a coiled sword for placing a bonfire but just started to have bonfires just pop up after they died.

Having every boss give you a coiled sword would've been kinda cool, if only because the animation of slamming it into a firepit is pretty cool.

Turns out I missed the gesture you get by summoning the Shade of Londor, which you can only summon if you're hollowed, which I can't do because it'll force me to level to 125. :qq:

If it helps, I don't think SL 125 is meaningfully different from 120 for matchmaking purposes. I'm pretty sure 120s already can't invade 100s, and but 125 can still be invaded by 100s (the range is -10/+30 I think), so if you're going to 120 I don't think there's any reason not to go to 125.

I think the "make your own bonfire" stuff would have been neat but probably caused some big issues if you picked a bad spot for it.

I figure they would have went with it being irreversible and given per boss.

I think the Nameless King guy is the original Warrior of Sunlight. We know that the WoS guy did something to get thoroughly disowned by Gwyn, have his image and his name stricken from history. Nameless King is into the 'path of the dragon' stuff, and Gwyn's shtick is that he loves slaying dragons, established all of the dragon-slaying knights, and loving hates dragons. The WoS altar has a broken spear that looks a lot like Ornstein's, and is fairly similar to NK's sword-spear thing. Nameless King chucks gold-tinted lightning spears. And he's really shockingly powerful for somebody who is never mentioned elsewhere.

edit: okay I guess that was pretty obvious.

Yeah another reason I think that is the case is because they made a weird deal of the tutorial boss having a coiled sword and needing to take it to make a bonfire and then it never comes up again

Ugh. I would make another character and try the different level ranges before you decide which one you want to be in. I was at 110 very comfortable and nice. Good duels, good invasions, good coop, everyone seems to know what they are doing for the most part with exceptions. Then I decided to move up to 120 since that's the popular one, thinking it won't be that big of a difference. Man, it's like night and day, maybe it's just me but after spending X amount of time at 110, 120 seemed like stumbling into a mental institution. I'll give it another chance, but I don't like it at all and wish I'd stay lower because it seems like everyone that's playing Souls for the first time read that 120 is the place to be online and that's all I ever queue into.

So, short answer there is no "agreed" meta yet and YMMV. Some will swear by 120 since that's their kind of crowd, some are saying 100, plenty are doing low level pvp almost exclusively from what I heard. But it's abundantly clear that (at least for now,) lower = better and I am going to have to make a low SL run through on another character to have any real fun.

SL 120 is largely a shitshow because it's the what most streamers are pushing and we all know how great Twitch chat is.

But I also have a hard time believing that 10 levels would make a real difference for matchmaking unless the summoning/invasion range everyone's quoting (reds are apparently -10/+30) is way off. Either that, or you're now invading people who are 150, and they're all dumbasses? I can't imagine the difference between 110 and 120 would be that big, essentially.

As for my own experience, I've been doing a lot of SL 60-70 PvP the last few weeks and I've run into very few people who seem to know what they're doing.

Oh, he's mentioned elsewhere all right. Read the item descriptions for everything associated with him, especially his soul, then go to a Dark Souls 1 wiki and read the description for the Ring of the Sun's Firstborn. The connection should be pretty obvious.

Probably not. It's mostly a one-off personal experience that I was sharing and like I said I'll give it another chance before diving into another playthrough. The point of my advice was not to say there is a huge distinction in skill between 110 and 120, but rather not to listen to the internet about what is meta and try to find a range that you like.

I'll probably stop at around 95-100, because my current Just For Fun build has a bit of MAD going on. Spellcasters and quality builds have it pretty rough up until around the level 100 mark.

Oh, well, yes, that's a good point and I agree.

I think what people mean when they ask for the SL meta is that they want to know where they're going to get a good amount of action. Level too high and you'll start having a harder time finding invasions/duels/co-op to do. An SL meta lets you know roughly around what range you can expect people to be clustering.

But anything from like 30 to 150 is relatively safe right now so you're right, just find a range that you find fun and have a good time.

Hmmm, ok so more npc vs. npc trip reports- I got the Crucifixion Victim in the dungeon all the way to the spot where a bunch of basilisks fall out of the ceiling. He hosed up the giant rats and the little rats on the way there, too. Now, thing is that basilisks have like, the wimpiest actual attack that they never use. There's no way that the Victim would lose to that. Except he died, but I was distracted by another rat and missed it.

So I think he got loving cursed, which is actually pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure the jailors can lower his HP, too.

e; OR he just clipped out of the map like an rear end in a top hat, which is what he did on my next attempt

Cheat engine cant give you gestures, it gives you an item that is a gesture and it doesnt get added to your gesture list and does not complete the achievement. Some guy said he figured out how but he never explained it, that's why I was rerunning the game.
