Wait wut? I wandered into the Irythill kitchen (via sewer, right?) and saw neither of those guys. gently caress. Which bonfire do you mean? The only one I have in that area is Yorshka.

If you want to complete Siegward's questline, you need to meet him in the kitchen in the Boreal Valley (the room with the estus soup) before lighting the "Irithyll Dungeon" bonfire. If he doesn't appear in the kitchen, you have some catching up to do--try going back to the cathedral bonfire and interacting with the well just outside.

Also if you want the little thief guy to live you have to let patches keep Siegward's armor to save him in Boreal Valley. The quests in this game are really messed up.

Is there missing dialogue that makes this explicit, or at least more clear? He didn't have much in the way of special dialogue when I leveled up the fifth time, he was just dead the next time I came back to the Firelink Shrine and Yuria was in his place. It might've even been a boss kill later, I don't remember for sure.

Giving him his armor is the next step. There's some confusion apparently about how to save Greirat in the current version, but the following should work to advance both plotlines:

-Enter Irithyll
-Send Greirat raiding
-Tell patches where he is
-Beat a boss
-Greirat comes back
-Buy Siegward's armor
-Give it to him in the well
-Meet him in the kitchen

It's possible other paths also work

according to the stats it has a higher spell buff? I only got fth up for some of the pyromancies as the black flame orb needs it and it does like 60% the damage of the chaos fire orb, not even counting the bonus lava damage it gets :(

I don't think it's explicit, you just kind of have to infer it. When you first meet Yoel, he's crying because he wanted to die like the other pilgrims to fulfill his purpose, and then you give him a new purpose by recruiting him. Then after you get your 5 levels from him, his new purpose of creating the Dark Lord from an Unkindled is complete, and thus he dies.

It seems like the Pilgrims all die after they complete the task they were meant to, like the one that escorts Anri to the shrine and gives you the sword, dies after you complete the ceremony.

I just bought the Washing Pole, and it seems like a no-brainer over the Uchi. The only downside I see is the higher weight, and slightly higher STR requirement. The STR requirement doesn't make any difference if you're two-handing, and armor doesn't do poo poo in this game to the weight is w/e. I only fooled around with the Washing Pole a little bit, but I can't tell any difference in swing speed. Does it use a little more stamina? It's a little insane how much reach the thing has.

In Archdragon Peak, why was there a message saying if I want to go down the Path of the Dragon, don't ring the giant bell? Was it just to get the Twinkling dragon stones? If I have them, should I do and ring the bell and see what it does?

CJacobs

Reach for the moon!
Ringing the bell summons the boss of the area who you then presumably will kill, which you logically would not do if you wanted to become a dragon. From a gameplay standpoint you don't lose out on anything, it's just an in-universe thing.

The drink animation seems way fast in this game, and the undead hunter talisman is telegraphed and slow as gently caress. Keeping up aggression helps, but it really seems like all you need is one opportune roll and then you get an estus chug for free.

fwiw the quests are borked enough that you don't have to let patches keep the armor to keep greirat alive on the second raiding mission. if you give all of the armor back to seigward before you send greirat out on the second raiding mission, and then tell greirat to go raid, and then go meet sieg in the kitchen, and then go beat a boss, sieg can also save greirat. I know this because it's exactly what happened on my playthrough.

the third raiding mission is 100% guaranteed fatal though.

I usually wait until the moment they start chugging, and then throw an undead charm at them. They'll get their one chug in, but then they'll freak out when they realize they can't heal again for a while. I also try to hit them with a riposte and throw it at them while they're still on the ground.

I'm usually in pretty close range so when I see my target come out of a roll, I just straight sprint to them since 99% of the time they'll chug, which gives me a free 5-6 hit combo that pretty much nullifies the health they just gained. Then I back off, whereas they roll away and try to chug again so I'm already running straight at them. It's really about predicting when they're going to heal up, usually after a good combo or at 50% health.
