I wonder if this includes the money from the NFL because I don't think Mark has that much money and I don't know how much more of the team he can sell.

He said he had $500 million for a stadium in Houston when they had the LA meeting. He has that, the problem is that $500m isn't a lot of money when you're looking a $1b+ stadium.

I'm really not even joking here, putting slot machines in the stadium to help pay back the loan is a legit thing that could happen and would absolutely work. edit: in fact there are all kinds of possibilities. Mad about your 13 dollar beer? Well that's an unlucky number. Pay an extra dollar and pull this lever and you can get this beer for free! Oh better luck next time. I've been waiting my whole life for a professional sports team to come to Nevada. It's 8 hours south of where I live but who cares. I feel kind of bad for Oakland residents, but at least Oakland will stay have the A's, 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and Sharks within a reasonable driving distance. I'd kill for one professional team in any sport (even MLS) that doesn't require me driving over Donner pass to watch them, or going 12-13 hours north to Portland. Obviously it's not even close to finished deal-wise, but I hope it happens. kiimo posted:I'm really not even joking here, putting slot machines in the stadium to help pay back the loan is a legit thing that could happen and would absolutely work. I could see a tables section being hugely popular too. The stadium itself could probably have a 24 hour casino in it. The stadium is being built by the Sands casino owner (regardless of if the Raiders go or not IIRC). God a super bowl would make so much money for that stadium. It would obviously mostly have out of towners with either a good amount of disposable income or who are reckless with their money, and generally drinking. edit: quote:edit: https://twitter.com/RickVelotta/status/725739250692411392 I know no one generally cares, but UNR is trying to do this as well. Vegas moving means we would too since we have a decades old rivalry. Here's hoping. Knyteguy fucked around with this message at 18:38 on Apr 28, 2016 |

I would probably consider getting season tickets for the Raiders if they move to Vegas. It's a 4 hour drive away and with it being in Vegas it would probably be super easy to flip the tickets to out of town fans for games I couldn't attend.

Install little touchscreens into every single seat in the stadium and let the fans all bet on the outcome of every play of the game, just before it happens. Throw in sports book access to all the other games playing live at that time. Plus if they get bored, keno and video poker.

Maybe. I feel like when you go to Mardi Gras you don't assume you're going to spend all your money, somehow Vegas has convinced us that is part of the fun of going there.

I thought about that too (well I was thinking video poker but play-by-play would be cool), but this would be a nightmare to regulate underage gambling. If something like this were to happen it would have to be in a 21+ adults section. Or something crazy like fingerprint identification that you authorize with to use a machine or something. Ross Angeles posted:I can't imagine a power conference taking UNR over SDSU or Boise I'm not all that knowledgeable on college sports, but Nevada moving to a stronger conference has been in the news, and they're trying to figure out exactly how to do it. If I remember right, since I'm unable to find a link right now, it's because they think Boise will move again and they want to maintain the rivalry.

UNR is preparing to spend millions of dollars expanding the college district here. They also just spent millions revamping the football stadium, and they seem to be working on expanding athletics. I'm not saying it will happen, but they are at least serious about it.

Other than being literally right next to the airport and having to worry about the flight paths, that site looks insane. Right on the strip, block away from a monorail stop, 5 blocks from the UNLV campus. I'm sure MGM would loving love if that was built right there

As the deal sits right now, I don't see it getting done. A lot of work needs to get done. I would be floored if Vegas agreed to provide $750 loving million dollars in funding, even if it is primarily taxes aimed at tourists.

Raiders get a home and a tonne of money because, let's be real, more people would go to a game in Vegas than in Oakland, and the casinos win because travelling fans coming into town and splashing their money on the casinos while they're there.
