The hybrid Berserker / Valkyrie pieces from fractals / guild missions / Vial of Salt / Laurel amulets are pretty solid, but Marauders is also broken as hell like the rest of the quad stat items. If you are going to go full elitism and minmax for raiding, you really only need 10% base crit chance for power, but you can add in Maurader's or the hybrid trinkets for extra precision if you want more wiggle room. If you are just playing alone or in a more relaxed environment, you don't really need any crit chance because you can take Soul Reaping for Death Perception and Decimate Defenses in Reaper to get to 100% completely by yourself

Today's higgs raid went well. I got an ascended dagger and an exotic from VG, an exotic from a mob drop and both an exotic and an ascended leg drop from gorseval.

i'm 100% glad to learn that for some reason picking the stats on an item soulbinds it to the character that you do it on despite it being for a character that can't even equip said items. that's totally a good design decision and not a way for someone to be screwed out of a free set of armor for a character that can actually use it.

Honestly, you could probably send in a support ticket and say "yo I messed up this gear and soulbound it to a character that can't even use it" and they might fix you up. GW2 support is pretty chill.

My ranger is now 80 but from what I gather most of the use they get in high end content is healing via druid specialisation. That's not really my jam. I haven't used my level 80 upgrade yet. What's another class that does the high end content like the ranger archetype? Preferably ranged dps, maybe a bit of traps? I was thinking revenant since the stances strike me as pretty cool, but maybe engi/thief?

Oh I did that in the past as well with some nice toilet-exclusive exotic weapon. It's an amazing feature and for the longest time I had the weapon in the bank waiting for an alt to level up, then noticed "nope bound to a different character" and wondered why that thing came out of the MF already bound. Took me forever to realize it was my own fault and I had missed the "soulbinds if you pick stats" warning somehow (probably because the game has too many warnings for trivial poo poo to the point the important ones don't stand out). At least it unlocked the skin, I guess.

I'm trying to decide what class to use my 80 boost on - I am kind of wanting to run a 1h/offhand condition build. Would a warrior or a guardian be better for that?

Guardian would be good for that. Warrior can pull it off but you'd need to unlock berserker first.

If you don't like druid, you don't need to play one to go on raids/high level fractals. With that in mind, Dragonhunter is a strong ranged DPS with traps.

Longbow is one of the best warrior weapons, and used for both support and dps builds. Guardians get both a longbow and a set of trap skills with their elite spec, and both are borderline overpowered levels of strong. Both classes also have popular builds with playstyles that are completely different from their shoot bows at things builds (of which there are many, for either class), in case you ever get bored of archery and want to try something else for a while without making a new character.

It went well, but for a different reason than you or the others may think. We displayed great tenacity and ability to adapt, such that the group we walked in with looked nothing like the group we left as. Of course it would be nice to always look like we did at the end, but I'm very very proud of how we fought through and were capable of making adjustments. This is an ability we will need to keep moving forward.

Druid currently has the greatest build diversity in the game, being able to not only run both power and condition builds, but also use healing power gear effectively. It's a guaranteed spot in any organized group (PvE and PvP), which can't be said anymore about previously popular classes like Thief and Guardian. Celestial Avatar also makes it fun to play in groups, if you're capable of playing builds that don't just autoattack all day.

Speaking of Guardian, how is it shaping up for things like raids? Thinking about using the 80 token on it but I can't go anywhere for accurate information on how things actually perform because the official forums is just nonstop pissing and moaning about how every class is garbage. I'm sure it's viable, but still.
