spacetoaster posted:Yeah, but they don't want some old GI bill veteran.........do they? I started nursing school at 24 (not old but not a traditional student) with my g.I bill. Honestly they want individuals who show the ability to be able to learn the material and pass the final test, the NCLEX. Males are deeply sought after in many nursing positions, especially management Shoot me a PM if you got questions

Also, McNally's plight kinda has me wanting to work for the VA. Let me explain... It's not because I could obviously gently caress off and do no work, but so that I could try to change it and actually help people. poo poo like his happens to lots of people I guess. A nice receptionist who was trying to get me to a provider so they could fill out a VA form so I could up my percentages ended up telling me how her husband fell from a blackhawk when doing an AA mission. He ended up getting 20% Army and 30% VA, and they have been trying to get their percentages raised for years. I think it's bullshit, and I think I could do some good. Maybe. I'd try at least.

People thinking they can change the VA and then realizing they don't stand a chance is the #1 reason for burnout. I've heard this from a huge number of current/former VA people of all levels.

So my brother is looking at a Army reserves job. Maybe you guys know someone/are that someone who deals with that career field. Its 91D and 92Y. Are these jobs tolerable or what? Its based in Germany in the KMC area.

92Y is supply and I pretty much never saw our supply guy outside of his bed. He also always had access to fast food, new movies, all the nice poo poo even during the locked down training events and / or deployments. Buuut it's the Army so I'm sure it sucks in some less obvious way.

Being a 92Y AGR in Germany would be lower on the horrible Army poo poo scale. But it would still suck horribly. Why are there AGR spots in Germany in the first place is another question for another day though.

Always looked like the maintenance and mechanic jobs were pretty terrible, at least the support company guys, maybe the higher level jobs were more chill. C/d?

Natty guard/reserves is the poo poo, especially after college. Thurs/Fri to Sunday once a month? 2 weeks in the summer? But there's no indication that we'll ever not have a War on Terror just like we'll always have the War on Drugs.

sigh. So I've always shaved after PT, which I know is the "wrong" thing to do but whatever. Sweat sucks on a shaved face. Apparently someone noticed today and got mad. Just got a counselling statement, on day 2 of being in a new part of the unit saying that I can leave the army with my head held high or as a specialist on extra duty. 15 minutes early next week for "health and welfare" inspection. I literally can't take this anymore. I seriously just can't...I'm at the point where I'm thinking of jumping out a goddamn window just so I can spend the rest of my time in the army in the hospital or some loving psych ward

spacetoaster posted:I'm talking about the war on terror. It's perfect. Lockmart is pleased. eh, I would argue that what we would consider The War on Terror ended when we pulled out the main forces out of Iraq/Afghanistan. Sure, it's technically not over (nor will it probably ever be) but to me GWoT was hallmarked by OIF/OEF and many tens of thousands of troops on the ground. Fun fact: the DoD/VA consider Desert Storm to present one perpetual phase of warfare, in regards to benefits. Despite the fact that aside from Kosovo in the mid 90s there really wasn't anything big until the towers fell.

Do you not have a medical hold company? That's the best place to hide out. Go to sick call and have some "realtalk" with the officer doc who sees you. Do you have any senior ranking friends/favors that you can call? I know I've personally shielded some lower enlisted buddies from storms. Have you been to the mental health clinic? They should have some Captain with a PHD who probably takes his job very seriously (in a good way) who can rain down fire and brimstone on your supervisors and make them just ignore you (or put you in medical hold!). Have you gone to see JAG? Some of my best friends are Lawyer Officers and they can totally get into a defense attorney mindset and go to town on some regs to protect you. All you gotta do is call the JAG office and schedule an appointment Speaking of appointments, have you made any? Like, make an appointment everywhere. Dental, education, JAG, flu shot, exit briefing, whatever. Appointments get you out of army crap. *Edit* What state are you in? I'm pretty sure we aren't stationed at the same place, but wouldn't it be funny if we were? spacetoaster fucked around with this message at 00:13 on Apr 30, 2016 |
