thathonkey posted:pyf windows 3.1 theme The first thing I wanted to say is that for anyone who isn't aware, this isn't the worst theme available, that one is called "Hotdog Stand", but I was already beaten to that. I'm a big fan of the default: I mean, I preferred the Windows 3.0 default scheme: but I got used to the Windows 3.1 scheme and liked it so much I tried to set up all my DOS applications to look the same, like Turbo Pascal: and if the program didn't actually support editing the colors, well if it was written in Turbo Vision, like McAfee ProView, I worked out how to hex edit it to change the colors: I should do this with the Hotdog Stand colors Holy poo poo, the first relevant Google search result for "McAfee ProView" is https://github.com/mammon/mammon.github.com/blob/master/Lost/Vlad-Proview.txt where I assume "VLAD" refers to code:

Hey, "Rejected" is legit good. gently caress people who would snip clips out of it and send them around without context though. As for the animutations, it did blow my mind much later to learn that basically all the memorable ones were made by the same guy, and that he also made a bunch of amusing songs with original videos with his band and was also a goon.

I suspect there aren't any drivers for 3.x supporting non 4:3 aspect ratios. I could easily make you a 1280x1024 one if you like (3.1, couldn't be bothered installing 3.11 and it should look the same). You could probably edit it to add some borders to make it larger. Come up with some cool idea for what apps you want running. Internet Explorer accessing goatse and the SA forums? I can probably find IE for 3.x somewhere although not sure on setting up TCP/IP. Edit: I should find an emulator that works under 3.1! Buttcoin purse has a new favorite as of 14:15 on May 1, 2016 |

Zipping files was a huge thing for me - compressing data to 'just' fit a floppy or using winrar (the two most unlicenced unlimited trial software packages ever).. Just say this and it made me laugh that the raw exe is smaller in file size than the zip...

We used to run antivirus on our 386 that didn't run Windows 95 very well. Which seemed like a giant waste since it wasn't connected to the Internet, and we weren't jamming pirated stuff in there by the boatload

We used to install the Quake 3 Arena demo on the school computers whenever we got our hands on them. Sometimes we played it in class if the teacher was away and then quickly alt tabbed out when they returned. It didn't always work. I imagine we must have been pretty easy to figure out too when everyone was giggling under their breath and giving each other looks. If we'd run games on the school computerd we'd have gotten in soooo much trouble. I got bitched out by a librarisn in middle school just for looking up stuff about games. Then my brother goes to high school, and he and his friends play Unreal off their flash drives during lunch. Nobody cares. I might have mentioned it earlier but when I was a junior in high school I made a shortcut to send a netsend message using either a star or a tilde, which sent it to all the computers. I also brilliantly did this after hours with few people around to share in the blame. If they'd bothered to investigate it more than slightly half-assed I probably would have been caught. They were acting like they wanted to expell the responsible party. All it said was "BWAAAHAHAHA", so it's not like it was a threat or harassment.

Hey cool I made a thread title When I was a junior in high school I got selected to go to this weeklong program called Boys State, where kids from all over the state basically run a mock primary and election at a nearby college. Every day we got like 3-4 hours to do whatever. Naturally my nerd roommate and I went to the computer lab, and lo and behold there were no restrictions so naturally we installed Q3test. By wednesday of that week the lab was packed daily with a giant lan party. I always felt bad for the admins who probably came back to a shitshow.
