Normally I would not recommend DBRB fleets, but he's honestly a loving riot when it comes to flying swordfleets. The entire shtick of a DBRB swordfleet is "gangwarp at 10km on top of a target, no matter how many bubbles there are. Immediately initiate gangwarp out as soon as you land, and while everyone's aligning, they lock and fire one volley." When you've got 50+ inties with rails and beams, that one volley will alpha most cruisers. And if it doesn't alpha them, it's fine, because hostiles generally won't be able to lock an inty unless they've got an instalocker (and/or someone hosed up), so you can just warp back in and do it again. He cackles with glee with each kill, and it's fun as gently caress. In a pinch, just grab me and yell at me if I'm online, and we'll go out and do poo poo.  On an unrelated note, take a look at these loving bits of  from the last day or two of patch notes:quote:* Projector and Doomsday super-weapons no longer affect ships in invulnerable states (POS shields, tethered, gate jump cloak)

So we left Shadow Cartel, and we've been making GBS threads up Syndicate with camps and fleets and honestly, for some reason, the game feels more fun than it has in ages to me. Glad to see populations kicking back up in a real way too.

Are there still options out there for newbie pvp? Kinda like RvB maybe, is that still around? My character's pretty old so I'd look like some 40 year old in a mall karate class, but whatever. There's got to be somebody that does small group frig/cruiser stuff that I can learn from.

There's a lot of options for newbie PVP in EVE at the moment. RVB are still around as well, some of the guys leading it took a break from the game which caused some organizational problems but from what I know it's still around and kicking.

I think I may have muted DBRB like four years ago and forgot about it until I tried to go on one of his fleets last week, which ended about as well as you would expect for an op in hostile territory where you can't hear the FC.

last week I went on a DBRB fleet against my better judgement, since I only had a half hour of free time before I had to be somewhere else, but it was actually quite fun. I tried to SRP fraud my Hurricane but instead started a fight that we won easily, then I just handed my cane off to the one guy that died. has he figured out how to use swords yet? The last DBRB sword op I went on, he tried to fight 200 TEST gank interceptors with 100 fast-align interceptors. Didn't go well.

I've gone on a couple of Boat fleets recently and had a blast. Was a bit wary at first since I'm an old fart that can't handle too much ADD and basically the only thing I remember from my first time playing in 2013 was a hyped up DBRB yelling in my ear before I warped and died. Just fit the insta warp stuff, zone out with some music, follow his warps semi AFK and hit F1, the good life. Got in on 50ish KMs yesterday which is about 40% of my total kills. Also Space Violent is pretty active these days with small gang PVP, I highly recommend it if you are into that sort of stuff. nex fucked around with this message at 21:39 on May 3, 2016 |
