This sounds shockingly close to a comprehensive and reasonable domestic policy platform. I'm sure it will fall apart when they get in but oh well.

Shorten's actually pledging marriage equality? Within an actual timeframe? I don't know who murdered Shorten and started wearing his skin, but if he holds to that come actual election time then he's got my support.

Sounds like a drastic improvement in a lot of ways. I'm still disappointed on a fair few things about the ALP. It's not a chaotic proposition like Turnbull being puppeteered by the far right though.

Good Country Values A farm worker who alerted accused murderer Ian Turnbull to the presence of environmental officer Glen Turner on his property says he considers the farmer to be a "champion" and still holds him in the highest regard. Ivan Maas told the NSW Supreme Court on Thursday that he considered Mr Turner's attempts to serve stop-work notices for illegal land clearing on him and Mr Turnbull to be "harassment".

I didn't listen to the whole thing but it sounded like a pretty good speech. I still won't preference them ahead of the Greens because of the refugee stuff but maybe they'll end up ahead of some random independent.Anidav posted:But what about the slave labour bill Maybe he's keeping that powder dry until later in the campaign. I thought the 'soft skills' training is actually a pretty good idea in theory, it's just the whole thing of making it compulsory or you get to starve on the street thing that makes it a poo poo policy. Farming it out to JSAs probably ensures it will fail at every step too. I've come across a number of people who have the skills and ability to be a decent employee but are pretty much at the bottom of the pecking order because they don't know poo poo about stuff like communication or how businesses actually work, and no one really teaches it if you don;t have the opportunity to learn on the job.

Jumpingmanjim posted:https://twitter.com/7NewsSydney/status/728135304058540033 Leaks for a bunch of reasons. People getting nervous and wanting to blame it all on Turnbull. ScoMo wanting to position himself as opposition leader. Or, in this case, my guess is a junior staffer in NatSec wanting to impress and big note themselves to a journo. There is very little benefit to do this as a strategic leak. Only thing would be to paint them as an underdog. Not a surprise that Eden Monaro is going away from the Liberals. They're a marginal bellweather seat, they are used to a big profile local member who turns up to anything/everything. He is invisible.
