I have a deep love for this game in all its weirdness. The story is anime as gently caress and the plot can put you to sleep but I could gush for hours about how amazing the combat system is - Or at least becomes after you get a few party levels. Playing couch co-op NG+ at Party Level 6 with friends on the PS3 version is a blast; even though I've never played the 360 version I don't think it would be as entertaining if it's less challenging. And though you can definitely see its age starting to show through for being a nearly ten year old game it still looks p drat good. Eternal Sonata is my jam, is what I'm saying.

For the life of me I couldn't see the lizard in the blackness. Please someone, I must be able to see it, it's the only mildly entertaining thing that happened in the game.

Was it really dark or something? Maybe the encoding made it harder/impossible to see.

I saw no lizard either. I fear poor Instant and Hbomber may have been made delusional by wanting something interesting to happen.

I went through the original recording, all ready to point out the lizard that had clearly been eaten by compression, but no, I couldn't find it. Even after fiddling with the video, tweaking brightness, contrast, and gamma, I didn't find anything. So I can only conclude that me and Hbomb did indeed have a strage, anime-induced shared hallucination. Instant Grat fucked around with this message at 18:38 on Mar 28, 2016 |

I been catching up with this lp and I'm at episode 11 when you guys do that awful fort dungeon. I just want to say that in the PS3 version they actual put a diagram of what each switch does in the switch rooms so you're not just blindly figuring out what each switch does. The dungeon in the ps3 version is still awful with tons of wondering around and backtracking but it looks basically impossible in the 360 version.

With a Chapter over, it's a good time as any to talk about the differences in the PS3 version once again! ~~ Chapter 2 (PS3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vrHZQ3otMU So, the three scenes in this video: The first takes place right as you enter Fort Fermata, same as the 360 version. Except, instead of monologuing his concerns about dreams and reality he just flat out tells everyone hey, I think you're in my dream. Then Polka gets angry at Allegretto. This conversation is even stupider when it's not all in his head. (I also forgot this scene was different in the 360 version and had to reupload it). The second scene I added because both you and the designers realized the lead up to the mineral powder conversation came out of nowhere. The last one is actually the second Attract Mode that can play on the PS3 version. It crams in another moment for Allegretto and Polka, but it also shows the terrible loss of Salsa's hat to the waves. Will they be reunited? The least important addition that I stuck in a separate video is another song. The piano you examined in Forte will play Mazurka in B Minor (Opus. 33 No. 4). No powerpoint or anything. Just the song. It's... pretty nice, I guess? I have no idea why they thought they needed to add it. Incidentally, Mazurka is Falsetto's French name. The trading quest is dumb. You've also stumbled in and out of the game long trading quest. Following the quest to this point would get you a second pair of Speed Shoes so you would have a spare to trade for the Basket. Equipped in battle it increases in battle movement speed, which can be pretty helpful with Viola with her damage being proportional to distance, and I don't think any other items in game have this effect. It's good at this point at least since there isn't really any competition for accessory slots. ~~ Also, Tuba is ridiculous in Encore. Any unguarded attack will kill you, and guarded ones can still take off 1/2 the health off Salsa or Beat. pichupal fucked around with this message at 03:35 on Mar 29, 2016 |

Our editing workflow is that Hbomb does some magic bullshit to the audio of us talking, which I don't understand because I am an amateur who just barely knows how to use Audacity. Then I take that and sync it up with the audio from the game, adjusting volumes as necessary so the game doesn't drown us out. Then I do any necessary editing to the actual video and upload it. I say this to explain that, if either of us has Life poo poo come up, that can bottleneck getting new episodes up - Hbomb had some poo poo happen, on top of being busy with the videos that people on Patreon actually pay him for, and that is why it has been so long since the last update. This is a swamp level.

# ? Apr 16, 2016 23:05 |

That was definitely a swamp level. You know those multi directional seem pretty useless. The enemy count doesn't ever seem to get high enough for hitting beside or behind you to matter at all.

Suspicious Dish posted:does this game have any redeeming qualities Once the game finally unlocks all of it for you the combat system is genuinely good and fun. I've only ever played the PS3 version, which ratchets up the difficulty by quite a bit over the 360 release (enemies have higher stats/give less XP), and looking at the videos from this thread the 360 version feels way too easy. The PS3 version makes every battle a genuine challenge, and missing a block can often drain you of at least 3/4ths health, if it doesn't outright kill the character. Particularly in NG+, which is drat near masochistic but in a good way. The story is... one-of-a-kind, and there are a lot of other gameplay design decisions that were poorly thought-out or implemented, but I love the combat of Eternal Sonata and could sperg rant about how entertaining and well balanced it is for pages.
