yeah it had mse's same gui design but a different name and came preinstalled

i think i was even ignorant of defender when i started using windows 8 and tried to download mse but the page told me i didn't need it because i already have defender. i think i only started using 8 when it became 8.1 though so maybe it took them a while to fix that

You weren't supposed to ask. It involves incompetence on many fronts, but I will say that I hadn't janitored a computer in a few years before getting my most recent job janitoring computers.

It's basically BYOD at my organization, and also organization policy to confirm AV/install MSE on any machines our offices touches. I wish I made the rules, but I don't, so it led to stupidity and MSE refusing to update definitions with a network error.

I bought a Sarnsung washer/dryer set and when I got the washer it was obvious that someone opened up the top housing at some point because the screws weren't down all the way. So I opened it up before I used it and three of the hoses that went to the water distribution system were snapped clean off and dangling so if I used the thing soap/bleach/whatever wouldn't get rinsed in to the tub and would instead just spray the insides of the machine. I reported it and since it was a manufacturer defect instead of a failure under warranty their only solution was to replace it with a different unit and refused to send someone out to replace the broken part. But I bought the set on a holiday sale, and since the sale was now over they were going to charge me the additional difference in cost on the swap. I was moving in to a new house and needed the units and had to pay them the money because it was going to be months before another big appliance sale.

Fuckers.

std::string should have zero allocations because memory is expensive. Instead, it should use other solutions such as mongodb. That way, Chrome can easily handle massive amount of data and big data ready for 2015. Added bonus is that std::string is now async, which means massive IO, which is impossible with memory allocations because even mmap is bound by virtual space. C++17 is indeed actually working on embedding mongodb and node.js into STL because those should be industry standard and solve 100% of business problems that C++ is aimed at solving at. Already github pull request is made. All you need is 2 thumb ups and will get merged in. Just imagine, std::string is everywhere: network stack, user applications, kernel drivers... And now they all use mongodb. And they will be Actor model massively concurrent paradigm. This is new science Wolfram is talking about. Just accept the PR already.
