It's 8 separate parts that in and of themselves are self-contained stories that also have consequences on the following parts. It's about the Joestar family and its descendants. It's one of the single-most influential manga series around, tied with Astro Boy, Dragonball, and Gegege no Kitaro. This makes it peak anime, but in a good way. It's also insanely super good.

There are a lot of contrived situations but that's what makes it fun. I binge watched Stardust Crusaders and it seemed like every episode had an even crazier gimmick of a stand user. But it was a fun watch.

If you're doing the crit path and traveling between Nipton and Novac at night, there's a pack of them that'll come out when you don't really have any good rapid fire weapons yet, especially if you make a side trip to pick up the Ratslayer (and you totally should.)

If you aren't enjoying yourself after episode 3 of phantom blood, feel free to drop the show, it's no big deal and nobody's gonna hold it against you  People like to talk about how jojo is unique and is an anime for people that don't like anime, but jojo is still anime as hell (and in many cases, invented things that became standards of the genre) so there's no shame in not liking it.
