Look for sales at Comixology. They're both Amazon now and tie-in, I think, but that's the dedicated comics storefront https://www.comixology.com/ Or get on Marvel Unlimited, which is much more versatile. For a subscription, read what you want if it's older than six months. You could read all of Brubaker's Captain America there for much cheaper than you'd ever pay for collections. No idea how good the Kindle app is, if that's what you've got. e: and subscribe to the Digital Comics thread http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3611527&pagenumber=1 Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 23:08 on May 6, 2016 |

Hey, so, I thought I'd just mention that I've got a new webcomic with artist Joel Priddy that just started called The Mummy's Sabbatical. It's about a mummy professor and his Frankenstein grad assistant who steal a rocket and explore the Ptolemaic model of the universe. If you are the kind of person who likes Universal horror or jokes about the Rosicrucians, this might be the comic for you. You can check out this post that has a little more information about the strip, or you can just go straight to the comics website at https://www.rocketmummy.com/comics to check it out.

Oh, because of the mummy thing? Yeah, this is a project I've been working on for a while, and the impetus for its creation was specifically that I thought there should be more stuff about rad mummies.

On the one hand, I get giving people free FCBD copies of Suicide Squad to promote the Suicide Squad film that's coming up. On the other, I still don't get why it's the #1 for Suicide Squad Vol 4 (aka the really good one /s) instead of New Suicide Squad, which is at least the first issue of the current ongoing series.

It should have been the recent April Fools issue, which is a done-in-one and ties to the upcoming series. It's much more family friendly too... ... until the end where that's revealed to be brainwashing ala A Clockwork Orange, but with some stealthy parental guidance, it's just a cute comic. Did everyone have a great Free Comic Book Day? I was wearing a Batman costume, and marinated in my own sweat for seven and a half hours, but it was worth it. People don't care if your costume is a little lovely, they're just happy to take pictures with Batman. We also had the Detroit Ghostbusters, and I got to fulfill my dream of wearing a replica proton pack.

We also had the Detroit Ghostbusters, and I got to fulfill my dream of wearing a replica proton pack. The store I go to had everything half price in addition to Free Comic Book Day. The owner asked me to hang around until it thinned out so he could show me some pricier books. In my time there I saw a lot of dads bring their kids in. I saw a little boy instantly fall in love with '90s Ghost Rider, a pre-teen and his friend pour over a longbox of Daredevils, and a high school girl buy a shitload of Deadpool comics. The only people who took the Strawberry Shortcake free comic were the ones that took one of each. Unfortunately I also saw an older guy who clearly had a mental disability / severe paranoia make an rear end out of himself. He got one of each that was left, but that somehow wasn't enough. He got angry that we were loving with him because there was no Captain America, no Iron Man, no X-Men, no Superman, no Batman... Sorry, crazy dude, they don't make a free one of everything.

We got rid all of our copies of Strawberry Shortcake and most of our DC Super Hero Girls. Had a lot of parents bringing in their daughters. We had a Miles Morales Spider-Man kicking around for a while, and he got a great reaction. Thor was a good sport with his heavy rear end hammer. Everything went very well, despite my nervousness about having to compete with other local shops that had more professional cosplayers, or freaking Yanick Paquette, at their stores. Only complaints I got were two different small kids telling me that Batman doesn't smile, and a tween saying I look like Robin in a Batman costume. Pretty much, turns out the new city I was living for half a year had a comic book store like 2 miles away from me, so yeah got Suicide Squad and Civil War 2 (because i"m curious how they will gently caress it up ) for the freebies then decided to grab Batman 66 Vol 2, Both Ms Marvel volume 2 and 3, and the Spidey/Deadpool crossover issues 1,3 and 4. (someone beat me to 2) Also yeah I know some of those are old but well being busy just like Lurdiak(busy rear end QA) so I have a huge comicbook log to go through.

I went to two stores yesterday; one store was Alleycat Comics in Chicago and had two people dressed up as Daredevil and Elektra (the Netflix Daredevil costumes) which was cool. Both their costumes looked good. It also had a dude sitting down next to the the Marvel TPB section reading through at least 2 TPBs. Real cool dude, take advantage of the larger-than-usual crowd to block 1/3rd of one of the Big Two shelves :/. I forgot to grab Civil War #0 at the first store, and Alleycat was all out when I went so I sadly will not get to see the exciting beginnings of the new Marvel event I will be ignoring.

One of the comic shops had 50% off their second hand graphic novels (which they have a fair amount of) so I managed to grab Gamain's Black Orchid because why not.

I like that book, McKean art and a Superhero story explicitly about how punching isn't the answer. Imagine how pissed I was when I read Justice League Dark when New 52 launched.

Chaos Hippy posted:Paul Dini was a regular writer on the series as well. The world of kids cartoons has always been a pretty tight network. Reminds me of how there was a Tiny Toons episode that parodied the Justice League and there was a gag in there about Hamton tripping over himself with how hot he thought Zatanna (as played by Fifi the Skunk) was. Zatanna, who as far as I know had never been represented outside of comics by that point. Years later, I see the cartoon was written by Dini and I've never been less surprised.

My buddy and I were having a few drinks the other night and the question was asked "if you could be any Batman villain's henchman, who would you chose?". I ruled out Joker because he is pretty likely to kill you for no reason at all. Mr. Freeze would require you wear something warm everytime and you would have to deal with his terrible puns. Two-Face seems very vindictive and will also kill you. I was leaning towards Riddler because at least he isn't homicidal and you just have to let him think he is smarter than you all the time, but you would also have to settle for his stupidly over complicated schemes. In the end I picked the Penguin because while he can be vicious, he is more of a traditional mob boss kind of guy and not as homicidal as others. Who would you goons like to work for, if you picked that kind of work?

Black Mask's out, as you just even look like you're loving anything up to the smallest degree, you're gettin' skinned alive or some poo poo. Mad Hatter's out, as he's just a creepy little gently caress. At least Roxy Rocket looks like she's having fun and isn't likely to kill you. Your outfit will also most likely consist of some kickin' Avaitors and a cool flying scarf. Team Rocket blast off! redbackground fucked around with this message at 20:48 on May 9, 2016 |

Depends on the Bane. He had a bad habit of teamkilling while on Venom. I'd say Riddler honestly but even then you're at risk of him getting possessed by the horrifying spirit that dwells below Gotham and choking babies with ping-pong balls.
