Don't understand why the owner can't just borrow $6000 for a toaster if it's truly going to up their productivity to the point where they can serve more customers and hire more people.

the opposition leader, Bill Shorten, insisted the hardline bipartisan stand on asylum seekers would not change, while Malcolm Turnbull used revelations that Labor candidates have argued for a more compassionate stance to raise what he said was a “horror” prospect of a future Labor government easing the policy under influence from the Greens.

I should clarify that a $6000 toaster is still a terrible argument to make in the context and not at all acceptable but industrial toasters are expensive for a reason.

I'M CONCERNED ABOUT A NUMBER OF THINGS

On the subject of Centrelink. I can't find any information but if I started a degree in 2010 but dropped out due to sad brains and now want to return to uni as a mature age student to get a degree which will supposedly help me move up a bit in my industry (lol) will I able able to get Austudy?

I can't find any info but I'm sure I was told years ago that because I didn't complete my first degree they won't give me any assistance other than Newstart? If there is anywhere better to ask this let me know but Centrelink never pick up the phone and I need to work out what the gently caress i can do.

Your best bet would be to persist with trying to get through to centerlink and explain the complexities of your situation to the trained monkey you speak to first and hope they transfer you to a Austudy specialist. In my experience if you get the right person they can help with unusual personal circumstances. Getting a medical certificate for your sad brains may help, but honestly I don't think it'll come to that. You only get Newstart if you are unemployed and not studying.

I think you can claim 4 years of undergrad study worth of Austudy, with a 5th if you need to finish some subjects. or 2 years of a masters degree with an extra semester for finishing any failed subjects (watch for the eligibility of the masters though, I got burnt thinking I would be eligible for a certain course). That would mean if you'd dropped out in 2nd year you should still be able to complete a 3 year degree with Austudy as long as you don't need an extra year.

When I was going through to process of applying a few years ago you could apply for one course at each level (i.e. undergrad, honours, grad dip, masters) every 10 years, and after that it reset so you could go back and do another undergrad. So even if Centerlink are arses right now, try and find out when you will be eligible to claim Austudy again because you might only have to wait a couple of years. Finally, if you passed your subjects in your first attempt you could use them to claim credit for prior learning and shorten your current degree if you need to reduce the time you are studying to ensure you get Austudy until you finish.

What you want to look at (assuming you're over 25) are the allowable time rules for Austudy. This is probably the link you want, but hunt around that part if it's not: http://guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/3/3/4/70

the Guide to Social Security Law posted:

Example: Jack enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Semester 1, 2005. At the end of Semester 2, 2005, he withdrew from his course and did not complete the degree. In Semester 2,2015, he enrolled in a Bachelor of Science. As he has undertaken study at the same level in the previous 10 years, the Semester 2 of his Bachelor of Arts from 2005 will be taken into account to assess his allowable time for his Bachelor of Science. Semester 1 of his Bachelor of Arts in 2005 will be disregarded as it is outside of 10 years. However, if Jack was to commence the Bachelor of Science in 2016, the Bachelor of Arts would not be taken into account as it has been more than 10 years since he has undertaken any previous study at the same level.

It should be noted that Jack's allowable time will be assessed from the day on which he enrols in his current course, not from when he enrols in each year of the course. If Jack enrols in the course in Semester 2, 2015, his allowable time will include the study from Semester 2, 2005. His allowable time will not be reset in Semester 1, 2016 even though the previous study would be more than 10 years ago.

Does this sound like you?

For a very long time, scientists wondered why they had never found a male anglerfish. They also wondered over the curious, tumour-like growths which occasionally covered female anglerfish - you can see one on the top of the anglerfish in the image. Then they discovered that what they had thought were tumours were actually the males. Vastly smaller than the females, the males "mate" with the female by latching on to them with their powerful jaws and partially burrowing into their flesh. Then the body of the male begins to dissolve and merge with the female. The brain, the internal organs, heart, stomach and intestines, even external structures such as the fins waste away until what little is left of the male depends wholly on the female's body for survival.

Eventually, nothing is left but a set of parasitic testicles, slowly pumping sperm into the female.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the National party.
