With the way crafting is interconnected, crafted materials can make for not very exciting but regular income, reliant on your crafting classes and what's popular on your server. For example, Behemoth lacks for ALCs, so if I feel low on Gil I make some glue from fairly cheap animal bits and can generally make a quick moderate profit. For Crp and Wvr, lumber is used in nearly all Bsm crafts, and string and cloth show up a lot in ltw and Arm. Blank orchestrion rolls might sell, but we're probably hitting the tail end of the orchestrion craze so they may not move fast. Any gear you can confidently HQ from nq gear will make money, though it may not sell for a while depending. Crafter gear tends to be in high demand, and so will gathering accessories. Cln you're on your own. Look up popular raid, crafting, or gathering foods, but you'll be pretty subject to what other people are doing.

My old 4 retainers look so ugly now compared to the new retainers. Is retainer fantasia really expensive to get ahold of or something. It feels like I should be able to flat out edit them given how no one gets to ever see them, even when you're standing there at the bell actively talking to them.

I promptly point them to Limsa Lominsa's overhead dialogue, especially around the aftcastle. There's a trio of lady pirates on the bridge leading to the lady pirate bar (50+ CUL people know the one) who pretty much talk about sex all the time, because they're pirates. There's a back alley in Camp Drybone where a drunk straight makes an indecent proposal if you are a female character, until his friend tells him to knock it off. IIRC if you're a dude he just tells you to get lost.

I feel bad for the Lalafel who's waiting for some woman at the Gridania airship counter. "Where in the seven hells is that woman?" he asks. Um, nobody goes to Gridania, dude. Except me, because I'm a nerd who picked Serpents as my GC because I hate fun and myself.

That said, it is possible for other people to see them, but you need a house to put them in the yard of.

oGCD isn't really a thing people know about unless they're told. I remember when I'd just started playing, asking if Dark Passenger was worth using since it seemed to do the same damage as the base combo but it cost mana, then someone told me you can use it while your combo's recharging and a little light bulb went off. I just didn't think of that before. Unrelated: Last night I had a black mage in EXDR who said "pull small" and didn't use a single fire spell (literally sat in 3 charges of ice) all the way to the moth boss. I finally lost my temper and called them out on it and they started to play properly. Was... that person really just too drat lazy to press their fire buttons or...

I think you should all stop being so mean to people who want to roleplay ice mages and pacifist healers. So long as we're all allowed to roleplay rational adventurers who then say "OK well then stay home, we're gonna take the guy who does his job well dragon slaying."

I once had a SMN in EXDR that didn't use DWT / Deathflare in trash pulls. Took forever to get through that, which should never be the case with a SMN Dely Apple posted:Specializations, fah! Hell, even when I was learning new dungeons on SMN I would still deathflare because I still get a giant face when I see it crit 5-6 mobs at once. I can understand being worried about wasting DF right before a boss but that's a really minor concern compared to making the trash take forever. Seriously, slow trash is just painful sometimes.

It's the old "I better save this Elixir for when I really need it!" mentality that used to end me up with a fat stack of megaelixirs when I got to Lavos. It can be a hard mentality to get out of, but man the difference it makes. Popping Perfect Balance and going to town with Rockbreaker on a big trash pack is a goddamn treat.

I never really liked specialization skills. They're basically adding RNG to a craft when the goal of most crafting is to minimize the effect of RNG in getting a HQ item. The boost from the jobstone and access to specialist recipes is nice, though.
