With the way crafting is interconnected, crafted materials can make for not very exciting but regular income, reliant on your crafting classes and what's popular on your server. For example, Behemoth lacks for ALCs, so if I feel low on Gil I make some glue from fairly cheap animal bits and can generally make a quick moderate profit.

For Crp and Wvr, lumber is used in nearly all Bsm crafts, and string and cloth show up a lot in ltw and Arm. Blank orchestrion rolls might sell, but we're probably hitting the tail end of the orchestrion craze so they may not move fast.

Any gear you can confidently HQ from nq gear will make money, though it may not sell for a while depending. Crafter gear tends to be in high demand, and so will gathering accessories.

Cln you're on your own. Look up popular raid, crafting, or gathering foods, but you'll be pretty subject to what other people are doing.

There's a back alley in Camp Drybone where a drunk straight makes an indecent proposal if you are a female character, until his friend tells him to knock it off. IIRC if you're a dude he just tells you to get lost.

It's something that shows up in Quick Ventures. The reason it's super cheap is because yeah, nobody cares. I've got one or two just sitting around in one of my retainers because I'm happy with how they look.

That said, it is possible for other people to see them, but you need a house to put them in the yard of.

It's also possible to randomly encounter somebody's retainer as an NPC out in the wilderness. Or at least it used to be. I am not sure they ever included this in HW zones so I haven't seen one in forever.

I could have sworn there was a patch at one point saying that retainers could show up in the world. Also the NPCs often had the default retainer suit, which would otherwise be weird for somebody banging on rocks with a pickaxe.

You probably want to focus on intermediary materials then. I'm not sure how the market is right now, but you should be able to find some with a 20%-50% profit margin. Be sure to check the market to see how high is the liquidity of the material, and whether the liquidity is high for the HQ versions or not.

oGCD isn't really a thing people know about unless they're told. I remember when I'd just started playing, asking if Dark Passenger was worth using since it seemed to do the same damage as the base combo but it cost mana, then someone told me you can use it while your combo's recharging and a little light bulb went off. I just didn't think of that before.

One time I was drunk in Syrcus Tower and roleplayed an ice mage during Scylla to see how I stacked up to the pubbies in ACT. I was second DPS in my party.

During Xande I only cast Fire 3 because it's a bigger number than Fire 1. Top DPS in my party.

And for Blue Scrips (i.e. Marron Glace, only ever do Marron Glace for blues), with those stats the same thing should work. Gets one more Hasty Touch and a couple more buffs on the Byregot's.

I edited in another Brand action since my craftsmanship isn't high enough for this macro but it works well.

Specialization abilities rely heavily on good / excellent procs, which rarely happen in 1-3 star crafts. It wasn't a very well designed system, unless you use delineations which feel like a massive waste of a red scrip.

Hell, even when I was learning new dungeons on SMN I would still deathflare because I still get a giant :haw: face when I see it crit 5-6 mobs at once. I can understand being worried about wasting DF right before a boss but that's a really minor concern compared to making the trash take forever.

Seriously, slow trash is just painful sometimes.

Delineations are blue scrip, so while it's a stupid and annoying mechanic it's not quite that stupid as it would be if it were subject to weekly red scrip limits on top of everything else.

Yeah but the boost to craft/control from the jobstone is worth it by itself. Specialization skills were useful as gently caress when leveling. I'll use them sometimes on 1 star stuff, and when I get to 11 stacks of inner quiet use a couple trained hands to finish it.

I never really liked specialization skills. They're basically adding RNG to a craft when the goal of most crafting is to minimize the effect of RNG in getting a HQ item. The boost from the jobstone and access to specialist recipes is nice, though.
