Is it me or there's a huge gap between the 1400's and 1500's? I'd join a team at 1490 and completely dominate, but if I had the bad luck of getting a disconnect and my personal score was above 1500, I'd have a really hard time keeping up until I'd get thrown back in the high 1400's (or get completely carried and be in the lower half of my team the majority of the time).

I don't play much ranked so I'm not too sure of the difference between A and S, but if what you say is accurate, S rank is no joke.

Something I like about Splatoon is how resistant it is to change. The game tries its best to keep you in the same rank. If you're in danger of dropping to a lower rank a win is worth more and a loss is worth less, and if you're close to going up a rank vice versa. Effectively, if you go from A to A- it was because you weren't playing at A rank standards, and if you make it to A+ it's because you deserve to be A+. Effectively, that means an S-rank player needs to win about 60%+ of their matches in A+ to get to S rank. Plus all that resistance-to-change goes out the window in S-rank, where from 0-30 points win/lose amounts is +5/-5, so if you're not winning at least half your matches you get dropped back to A+. Basically S-rank is no joke, but the level of competition there has made for some of the most fun I've had playing Splatoon because S rank players don't usually get there by chance. My S/S+ buddies and I are pretty tough but only one of us managed to break 1800 so I'm guessing both teams were pretty evenly matched

Maybe it was my rank (B), but I was on Team Costume and holy crapola those were some squids who didn't know how to hold a gun. If anything I'm surprised Costume got 49%. Those A rankers must've done double duty.

I'm glad it's not on pc because if it had control options that makes the gyro controls the inferior input method, I wouldn't be playing this game still. Maybe even at all.

Dangit, I was busy "going out and doing stuff" and "being social" so I didn't get to play this Splatfest. And I haven't played since last Splatfest so I didn't get my shells either  Oh well, I've got like 50+ of them still and I'm never gonna use them all anyway. I haven't played ranked in forever, so I played a bit and immediately got dumped down to A+, then clawed my way back up to S and stopped. I really like the Splattershot but you need to be able to aim with it so I always end up with a negative k/d. I might try an easier weapon

What Smiles said It has one of if not the highest DPS, good range, but requires pretty good aim, so there's a very high skill ceiling.

I think I've seen skilled use of literally every weapon at S or S+ rank, so you really can't go wrong with your selection. But yeah, the non-Jr Splattershots seem most popular by far. Yeah, seconding what everyone else has been saying, the Splattershots are pretty good for ranked. I like the Tentatek--that inkzooka is super useful against dynamos and snipers, or anyone you want to pop at range. The Wasabi's pretty good, too. I like the Wasabi better than the Tentatek because I think the splat bombs are better than the suction bombs and I usually die before getting the super anyway
