Well my story is I am going to a mates place this evening and will be taking desert along. I decided to bake a ginger slice instead of just buying something because I really love ginger slice but have never attempted to bake it. I suck at baking and always end up making a big mess or burning myself in a stupid manner; and the thing I bake typically ends up looking like poo poo. Thus: I will take pictures of my adventure in baking ginger slice so that you all can laugh if I post a picture of my hand covered in burnt caramel.

Ginger Slice Update: I didn't burn myself Sorry for the following lovely large images but they are coming from my phone. Also I didn't realize I didn't have the flash on at the time; but hey now it looks like regular AFP Thread quality photographic skills. This is what it looks like. It's just a mix of butter, sugar and flour with some powered ginger. Was very "breadcrumb" like on consistency but apparently this is fine. This is after 45min in the oven. Recepie said 30-40 or "until golden and firm to the touch" it was neither really golden nor ultra firm to the touch but I frankly was running out of time and didn't wanna maybe over cook it in case my definition of firm to the touch was wrong. This is it with the icing-caramel on. I didn't take a picture of all half a cup of icing sugar I droped on the floor; but good news didn't burn myself. This is the 2nd time I've ever made caramel and the first time I hosed it up so badly there were balls of solid icing sugar in it. This time there are only 3 really visible blemishes so I'm really happy. Later Post: The slicing once it has cooled down.
