DoubleDonut posted:so is Akiba's Trip modern-day Way of the Samurai or what it's wots-lite with worse combat, a crazy amount of cross-promotion deals to put ads for a bunch of games from cold steel ii to conception 2 in the background as well as a fuckton of actual real-life shops in akihabara, an amazing xseed translation with genuinely loving hilarious dialog and fun characters, and sexy babes drawn by the monogatari character designer i think it's really really bad at the very start because you have no good weapons or clothing and it took me a while to get a hang of the mechanics in general, but once you do get the hang of it and you're able to get fun stuff like a leek that functions as a shortsword and can generally just decorate your dude more in general, it's really enjoyable, and if you start on casual that should only take about an hour or so, even less if you're not an idiot like me and understand that fixing your clothes means holding lb, not pressing it once

its only flaw is that, like way of the samurai, you cannot play as a girl until you beat the game once, and most of the fun clothing items are girls only. the only magical girl show t-shirt guys can wear is pretty loving hard to get!
