You probably think you wouldn't be morbidly obese if you could afford a personal trainer, a personal chef, your own private gym, and any type of cosmetic surgery or drugs imaginable, either.

Being rich doesn't fix broke brains.

What is it about Minecraft that makes people think Notch wouldn't be a horrible human being? Like its just a block building game but so many people just seem flabbergasted that he is such a poo poo, he never gave any sort of cues he was a good person.

Not really referring to any reactions I see here in this thread, just elsewhere.

Prolly makes a lot of them worse. Like imagine how much harder it would be to figure out who your real friends were if you were a billionaire. Rationally being that rich would make up for it, but people who are in a thing don't have the perspective on it that we do.

I imagine it is just because people want to believe that if they like a thing, that the creator of said thing is a good person, and they don't want to feel conflict by finding out that the good thing they like is actually made by someone who is not good

he also cribbed the idea of minecraft from infiniminer and hit it big with programmer art and lovely java code so it's really like an idiot won the lottery

the saddest thing is that he has an entire room of candy dispensers, and knowing that the only person that's gonna eat that candy is him, by himself, alone

I was talking to a friend about this recently because I watched and enjoyed Polanski's Venus in Furs, which is almost impossible not to see as somehow personal or confessional since it's two actors in a single theater set playing a director and an actress, about gender politics and the director's insecurities and stuff.

I think maybe when this kind of thing happens it's also difficult for some people because then they go back and retroactively wonder if there's something wrong with them for liking the person's work, or if the creepy/uncomfortable/annoying thing about their personality influenced everything they made. A lot of times people shut down rather than confront thoughts like that.

as long as people understand context it's fine but then we have situations like how Hollywood still chooses to glorify and worship Woody Allen

Like, can you trust a piece of art if the creator is a piece of poo poo?

I was just thinking about Woody Allen. Everything he's done and will ever do, every witticism or statement about the human condition will be tinged by a "This is coming from an (alleged, I guess) child molester".

well, for a lot of creative endeavors that'd be true on some level. thankfully minecraft is more of a creative utility than anything else.

He's a pudgy swedish computer programmer, and when it comes to his success he's actually pretty humble about it; he kinda recognizes that Minecraft's success was a massive stroke of luck. But going from a crummy broke java nerd to a lonely rich fish-out-of-water constantly in the public eye it's gonna warp you.

How is Overwatch on PS4? I can't decide if I want to get it on PC and PS4 and I have friends on both. Couch gaming is super pro though and if I'm going to be playing with a controller I want to play against other people doing the same. Decisions :ohdear:

it plays fine from the beta but turning and aiming are slower on controller so either you or the people you play against will be lovely depending on how skilled you are.
