Snapchat is kinda fun when you get the hang of it. With that said, the UI is pretty terrible and it's designed with a lot of non-obvious features. Can we stop talking about how Snapchat is garbage and focus on Chomolungma?

Dying on Everest while trying to prove vegans aren't weak is a real David Carradine-level embarrassing death. At least he was probably getting his dick sucked while he suffocated.

No idea... Do you head back to the 8300 camp once you summit? Or does 'going back' imply he had to give up? Edit: Ok, so Adrian did turn around because of cold and he's on O2 now. Corey is still going at it: quote:AB elects to turn around due to cold. On O2 and warming up. The thread's favorite blogger explained why deaths happen on Everest and went on to talk about the various guide options there currently are since the guides are at least being hinted as at as the cause in that group that lost two people close to each other. http://www.alanarnette.com/blog/2016/05/23/everestlhotse-2016-people-die-everest/

Am I crazy, or does every mountain climbing-focused site look like it was designed in 1999? Edit: "Today the typical expedition member’s age ranges from 13 to 80 but mostly consist of 94% men in their late 30’s to mid 40’s." Ohhhh it's a midlife crisis. This makes a lot more sense. A lot of Indians die each year trekking, but they're kind of okay with it. They make a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in Tibet, said to be the birthplace of Shiva. Due to its holiness, it' s never been ascended, and because the Indians who want to go are Hindu, not Tibetan Buddhist, the Chinese government does let them go. They don't actually climb anything, but they're helicoptered in and walk seven times around the base of the mountain, which is an extremely high altitude, and it's 32 miles to walk around it. There's supposed to be health checks, but there aren't, so a lot of people do it at the end of their life, when they're nowhere near healthy enough for it, and they either die there or shortly after returning, but it's not unexpected. They don't do it for the glory. It's a religious experience. There was one year where like, a whole bunch of people died on the same trip because the tour operator skimped on oxygen and medics, and there was a lawsuit. I think it was 2012.

Two U.S. soldiers, one an amputee, made it to the summit of Mt. Everest earlier today! http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/24/health/usx-veteran-soldiers-summit-everest/index.html CNN posted:(CNN)Retired Staff Sgt. Chad Jukes, 2nd Lt. Harold Earls and Capt. Elyse Ping Medvigy reached the summit of Mount Everest on Tuesday. quote:Before joining the Army, Jukes pursued rock climbing during high school. During his service, he was a lead gun truck commander on a supply convoy in northern Iraq when his vehicle was struck by an IED on December 17, 2006. Out-loving-standing! I couldn't make it up Everest even with an extra leg, this guy does it without one. Congrats to the first male and female members of service to make it up to Everest simultaneously!
