Only got in a handful of matches last night, but drat do I still love me some Mercy. Until my team begins to melt and I find myself flanking enemies with my pistol because gently caress it, nobody else is getting around back.

So what's with credits, exactly? I believe duplicates get turned into credits, but is there a way to just buy credits? I feel like that's something that would be implemented, but maybe not.

There's a pretty straightforward pattern I'm noticing. When I play with friend X I repeatedly lose. When I don't, I mostly win. Am I the kind of guy who'd rather win than play with friends? Kinda hope not but then I just start mulling over how he doesn't play anybody but Noted Bad Character and two good ones badly. Like I'm trying to rationalize the break.

I'm losing a LOT more than I did in open beta. Did they wipe ladder statistics? I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these people are closed beta people who have been playing for most of the past year. I was ready when servers went up, for instance, and it took seven games to get my first win. EDIT: I don't type gg because every game like ten minutes long.

Well you have two options, depending on if your friend wants to get better or takes advice well. Option 1 is to give him help on playstyle and stuff to help him improve. Option 2 is to accept that the game is probably a loss from the start, and spend the game learning a hero or playing around with some silly setup. For example play genji and just try to reflect ults all game long.

So what makes an epic skin "better" than the blue's? Most seem to recolors just like the blue's. Pharah gets a different hat though which is cool. Do other heroes have epics that change the actual model?

Mei's has a slightly different design on her parka, 76 has one with a skullmask or a shiny golden one, one of Junkrat's has his entire body charred from an explosion, etc.

The rarer it is, the more that gets changed. Like for Mercy, the green quality skins are just the accents on her clothing changing. Blue quality, all of the colors on her clothes change. Legendary is a completely different outfit.

Look at McCree's blue skins and how they mostly just change the color of his shoulder cloth and other minor things, but his torso doesn't change. Purple skins recolor everything, changing the overall feel for a character's look without actually changing how the model looks. It has a relatively low man-hour cost to create but let's players use a favorite color for a hero. I like it other than the fact they expand the pool for loot boxes, but that's gambling for ya. Any way to play as a group that doesn't do that? We thought of just all piling into the same game and being divided among the teams as slots freed up (shooting at friends is just as good) but it would just take way too long and then a bunch of people would leave and the game would migrate and it'd go find different games for everyone and we'd have to start all over again.

okay something is terribly wrong with genji's dragonblade. half the attacks just don't register. enemy is right in front of me, clearly in range, hit effect appears but no hit marker or actual damage. it's immensely frustrating to keep swinging at a mercy and deal no damage, especially when you NEED those kills to dash more and stay alive. it definitely wasn't like this in the beta so either the servers are borked or something else is at play

Anyone else try running dual Zaryas? Its very effective with two good players. Constantly bubbling each other to build charge and taking turns jumping out to take the hits. We would have one of us jump out, Tank hits with personal shield, tank hits with friends shield, then swap and do the same. By then we were both 100 charge and our cooldowns were back. Also throwing grav bombs and alt-fire grenade spamming them with 2 zaryas is awesome. The enemy team seemed to often not know what to do. Also what is up with the matchmaking. On Xbox and it seems (queuing as a duo) we either get an enemy team that can't make it out of the spawn, or a super coordinated premade that steamrolls us in seconds.

Plays of the game seem to be behaving weirdly at the moment. Sure, on day 1 it was basically wall-to-wall Hanzo dragon arrows, but today it's like they tweaked the formula and got it wrong - Reaper stepping out of the cap zone, shotguns a turret, and that's it. I just had a game as Mei were I got a triple kill defending the final cap point, on the cap point, and a Widowmaker got 4 quick kills in a row, but PotG went to a Symmetra who walked up behind a half damaged Reinhardt, killed it, and then got a turret kill on a tracer half a map away. Also, got the Blackhardt legendary skin for Reinhardt in my level 4 loot case, so I have that going for me. Also, 16 kills, 13 cap kills, 10,500 heals, and single handedly holding the KotH cap for 20 seconds to turn a 0-99% into an overtime win as Lucio got me 3 votes post game, one of which was mine

They can make a lot more money from making people gamble on loot boxes There's only maybe two skins I actually want really badly so if I could buy them I'd never need to care about what I get from them again since I don't think anyone really cares about sprays etc (I'm not gonna buy loot boxes though, I guess the skins will come eventually/I'll save up enough credits)

When you get a purple and it's an emote I die a little inside. Games still fun, was playing with friends last night and we went up against a 5 Bastion and 1 Mercy team and absolutely loving wrecked them. It was so satisfying to have a team who saw all the Bastions and actually changed classes to suit.

If I had to guess it probably means your display is running at 70 Hz, and when you choose the display-based fps it sets your max frame rate to match that of the display (or a multiple of it).

During the days of "Waiting for Players", I decided to spend the eternal deathmatch as Pistol Mercy. I've been playing her quite a bit recently, and sometimes it's better to just pull out a gun when there's an enemy in your face. In one KotH map I spotted a Reaper teleporting onto the point, so I pulled out my gun and headshot him as soon as he materialized. Never had a chance to move. If there's an urgent threat to your life which your team isn't noticing or handling, switch to your gun for a second and try to take the enemy out. The healing you're providing will stop if you get killed anyway.

Security issues aside (which are major and plenty), I'd rather not have to wait for them to process whatever form of ID they would require in order to even remotely process that. There's also the incredible amount of work hours that would also be required (there were 9 million people in the open beta, imagine if even half of them had to go through this all at the same time), which nobody running a business would want to pay for when there's simpler ways to get enough enforcement, like having a price tag on the game.
