We should interpret every typo as a Freudian slip.

I went to a conference today and sat in the middle of the 3 columns of tables. For the entire conference whenever the CEO made a presentation I got a :stare: from the CEO to me and my coworker who were sitting at the same table. So eventually, we were both entertained and confused and decided to do a :magical: / :stare: back at him. It was so weird. He'd pan the audience and then :stare: . I almost expected him to scream and proclaim his dominance or piss on the tables while saying THESE ARE MINE I OWN THESE.

I was just looking at it and I suddenly got this urge to get inside. No, not just an urge - more than that. It was my destiny to be here; in the box.
So do y'all remember the thing with the editing computer that was my ultimate undoing at the television station? I can't be arsed to find the post in the ocean of petulant whining that is my post history, but the gist was that we needed a new editing computer and the choice came down to me suggesting a Z-series and CE suggesting building a gaming computer.

Do you also remember that all the computers in the newsroom were running Windows XP and older than loving dirt?

Remember when I was looking into vendors to budget and replace all those with warrantied and supported desktops?

Remember all that? Do you?

Now take all those situations and roll them into a nightmare solution that only the CE could dream up.

Is the newsroom getting new computers? Yeah!
Are they all getting new editors? Yeah!
Is the CE going to literally piece together 23 gaming computers from individual parts?

You bet your sweet goddamn rear end he is.

Wait. Hold on. He's not doing it.

I mean, he's not personally doing it. He pawned the task off on a production assistant with literally no experience with computers other than playing game consoles and sat him down in front of a mountain of computer parts and told him to manufacture 23 working editors. His is apparently his test to see if he's good enough for my old position.

I'm just going to let that all sink in for a minute.

And before you ask, the production assistant has apparently already ruined 3 motherboards and even more processors on this experiment.

Everything is a clusterfuck all the time.

I was meeting a friend outside of the station for lunch yesterday. I was standing on the corner when a parade of television executives came marching down the street to a nearby restaurant. Among them were the GM and the old GM now president. Old GM shook my hand and gave me the big cake boisterous how-do-you-do nonsense that upper management seems powerless to avoid. I was polite and spoke with him about the new job and my children. He didn't give a poo poo and walked away.

GM comes sidling up to me.

:v: "Hey, larch, you still loving working over at the school?"
:smug: "Yeah, it's awesome."
:v: "Well... gently caress."

And walked off.

The thing that struck me about all this is CE was not among them. CE is always involved in these meetings with corporate. Especially when his old butt buddy is involved.

Something is going to happen to him. I really believe his time is short. I really believe this meeting was about him, because it takes board approval to fire an administrator.

I just can't wait to see how this turns out :allears:

There's more but I'm tired of typing. More tomorrow possibly about how CE's cousin broke into the station and showed everyone his dick.

Don't you dare mention this and then not tell it.

I do feel sorry for that poor production assistant, though. Building my own computer was a pain in the rear end even when I know what I'm doing and what goes where, having to fumble his way through 23 is just inhumane.

I hope "broke into" means was let in by CE, and "everyone" is a live broadcast.

[CE ordering 23 gaming computers and pawning off assembly to someone completely untrained]

There's something wonderful about gaming computers getting built for office poo poo. My ex-boss built a gaming computer for a server, his idea was that he'd have an i7 and four 1TB drives in a RAID (which I found out later to be a RAID 0).

There's also this loving thing he bought to serve as a business router.

Now that the business is dead I'll need to write up a big thing about my old work, my shithead boss, and the utter sliminess I had to deal with.

Forget it man this bat is whack, it's got poobrain!
I mean, I built a server for work once back in the day but at least it was a supermicro based monster with parts from their approved list. (when I did it SATA on servers was nearly unheard-of and we needed a server that could store tons of data but did not really need to do so fast, and of course the budget was approximately zero).

I ruined a motherboard by the CPU slipping out of my fingers and the edge falling right onto the pins. I spent an hour with a very tiny screwdriver, a bright light, and a magnifying glass. Still threw errors, though.
How did he manage to ruin a CPU, though? I suppose Static discharge, or dropping one on it's edge onto concrete?

If you've never seen the word 'cyan' before, that label could mean anything. Especially with a printer.

True. She was looking for black though. Replace cyan with black and it's a bit more clear.

To be fair, she's a unit secretary for Children's ICU, and she is really good at her job. Just not at anything related to printers.

In theory she could have something like two Cs a Y and a M, and still be technically right about not knowing if there's a black cartridge. Unless you're pretty up to date on how printers work they're probably looking for "Color" or Red Yellow and Blue.
