What kind of builds are you guys having the most fun with in the Beta? Maxing out sentries with a bit of ammo specialist and armorer with anarchist deck is a fun build for any heist that requires holding a spot. Sentries, even maxed out ones, tend to die quickly if cops can surround them - you want to use that shield to block as much damage as possible, so positioning them well is key.

Fire tripmines plus iron man, hostage taker, stockholm syndrome, swan song, and feign death is kind of dumb but still viable on DW - idea is to never rely on another player. Set tripmines to defend while doing objectives, hope feign death can keep you going and stockholm to save you if things go bad.

Optic Illusions has been fun for loving around with conceal builds; I've been having fun seeing what shotgun combinations I can make work for me at full dodge/crit.

Also I remember being pissed about Bullseye getting isolated from dodge but with the tier change it's actually even easier to justify Aced Oppressor and Basic Bullseye on suit builds, which is great. All around I'm a big fan of how things are changing here.

In the Beta it is possible to get 25 base dodge with 143.5 armor using a Lightweight Ballistic Vest, a combination of armor and vest skills, sneaky bastard and low concealment weapons, and the fugitive deck.
That's 50 dodge when sprinting, 40 when crouching. You have enough points left over to do other silly poo poo like Hostage Taker for regen, Evasion and Shock&Awe and be always sprinting, or those instant first aid kits and Swan Song.

Combine Yakuza with Berserker and the Frenzy skill and wear ICTV but move like you're wearing a suit, and hit like a truck at all times.

Fun stuff.

They're going to set up a couple of VR kiosks in movie theatres that are theoretically high population but that nobody who cares about VR will ever go to so that they can put VR games related to the movies up. It will be pushed as a way to re-establish the old theatre arcades, but now with VR and games related to what's currently showing. They will be largely ignored after a (very) brief initial surge, as the games will be pretty bad, most movies coming out won't have associated games (and so the content will rapidly go stale), and the cost will be idiotically high for a diversion to blow 2-5 minutes on while you wait for your friends to decide if they want to get the large or the ridiculously large popcorn.

Sokol's is great, so if Sydney's can dethrone it I need to get on hearing that ASAP. Clover's has always felt disappointingly blasé to me, though, which is the one mark on her record as 'best heister'.

Its sad that none of them try to quote other heist movies while being up there just to differentiate themselves, but then again I'm still hoping we can get someone from India so we can have a Bollywood heist.

Part of what makes Sokol's take so great is his delivery at the start sounds like someone saying something because they have to and trying to get through it as fast as they can, which makes his rapid descent into frothing rage all the better, because it's like he's just so pissed he has to do the bit in the first place.

Sokol has really incredible delivery and consistent characterization over his lines. He's got a well-practiced veneer of joviality and politeness over a pit of psychotic rage, which particularly emerges against civilians. He's probably the scariest of the heisters in that regard.

She's looking for input on how to tweak the difficulty of the mod - to make it hard but not literally impossible

Current changelog:

*Gave the Bulldozer some sneaking lessons.

*Made Winters/Minions more resistant to explosives, but increased HS multi to better reward flanking. Lowered his damage a little bit because they hit like a tank.

*Updated the Armor Piercing toggle to include Russian weapons (boiling point is riptastic now).

*Removed the change on Winters' damage resistance as it was loving stupid and made maps like Rats 1 nearly impossible.

*Made the Winters spawn changes only occur on DW.

*Changed the Russian spawns to be more like their American counterparts.

*Changed Taxman's chance as he was a bit TOO stubborn. Like 5+ minutes shouting stubborn.

*Removed the dozer spawns on Rats 1/Cook Off as they didn't want to cooperate and be DW only, sorry everyone.

*Cops can now climb into the house on Rats 1/Cook Off right away (this'll affect all difficulties however).

*Phalanx Shields that are part of the "Death Squad" on Watchdogs 2 will now retreat with other AI. The Bulldozers won't however.

*Changed how the Core.lua file works so that it only loads the replacement for a level when that specific level is being played, rather than replacing all of them if one of levels from the list is being played. (tl;dr: doesn't do unnecessary replacing now)

*Changed the weapon handling to be WAY harder. Scar will destroy you, good old 400 damage saigadozer is back, etc. GG indeed.

If you want to make a better dw+, help out! Suggest Discendo Vox changes because why not!

netcode would completely poo poo itself a la national guard response, leading to a lot of static enemies. That said, unless they do something, the game's gonna be pretty hard to sustain with how trivial most things have become.

Also, this leak was from a while ago, but it's worth as a reminder for what we'll be getting in the Diamond Heist remake (first image):

I sure do love patchnotes that are somehow even less informative than Overkill's! I have some draft HP and damage table changes for Death Vox, but I'd be crazy to try to set up material quant changes while the beta is still in motion. From what I recall, pretty much every quant change in DW+ is much stronger than anything I'd do- for example, though I think nerfing crit damage to bulldozers is a good idea, removing it completely is a step too far.

Hotfix for another Dead by whatever mask. At this point we'll probably get a remade Mercy Hospital but for their own zombie game's dumb plot instead of valve's.

Doubling down on the aspects of deathwish which are the least interesting is, unsurprisingly, uninteresting! On the other hand, definite points for making the mod actually exist. It's not easy, so, respect on that even if I don't have any interest in playing it.

fundamentally I think any difficulty changes to Deathwish that won't be tedious bullshit or uninteresting "more enemy damage, more gently caress you" enemy buffs are going to have to come from Overkill. I don't know if they've posted about it in the beta feedback forum but I think they really need to make different map changes and objective changes to maps for DW. Alesso used to have it with pyro (and was better for it), Watchdogs d2, Firestarter d2.

simple stuff like "you used to need to secure x, now secure 2x" isn't intrinsically interesting - it can easily be abused and lead to dumb tedium - but in limited use, and combined with actual map changes or changing assault timers during certain game events? Now we're talking.

(overkill, alesso pyro sequence locked to infinite assault, please)

On Election Day 2 you need a crowbar on dw to open the boxes, which is interesting. They could double down on that by making guards actually notice open boxes which means you need to find a nail gun or whatever and reseal the boxes.

That's another good example. I don't think they need to double down on election day 2A - crowbars are enough of a change to me - but the idea of having to reseal crates could work on another stealth heist.

I think numbers do need to go up, especially with the new beta skills. However changing other gameplay elements is a good idea as well and that's what modders are looking for I think. I played some with the DW+ author and she tried out a simple mod to Firestarter Day 1 (vanilla DW other than the hangar mod)

All the hangars were enabled but the amount of loot stayed the same. This made it harder in an interesting way - we had to search through and drill more trucks in order to find all the loot. Things like this would add a lot to a DW+ mod. So if you play the mod and like it or have other ideas for changing gameplay, you should join the steam group and post about it.

BTW you need to join the steam group in order to get the link to the beta.

Any known bugs with not getting progress counted towards "From Russia With Love" (do 25 vlad jobs ovk or higher wearing Mark mask)? I'm on the skill beta if it matters and have tried aftershock, nightclub, four stores, and mallcrasher, all on overkill. Wearing a customized mark mask or a stock one, it doesn't seem to matter, I stay at 19/25 forever. I'm gonna test this afternoon if the skill beta also breaks the one for robbing armored transports wearing a hockey mask.

EDIT: VVVVV well that was fast and helpful, thanks. Guess I won't bother testing if the other one is broken too.

Any achievements that have a progress bar are bugged in the skill beta.
