That reminds me I haven't seen any Stewart/Button Mobil 1 commercials so far this year.

I've been catching up on this season on YouTube. Finished the Daytona 500 last night. HOLY gently caress that finish was awsome. I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing so far this year. I should be caught up in a week or so. Sounds like I have some good stuff coming! Norns fucked around with this message at 19:05 on May 23, 2016 |

we've never seen two different cars with the same sponsor, either like, Bass Pro Shops is only on the 14 you'd never dream of seeing it on another car, so clearly Mobil 1 is dropping the 14

I wonder what the idea is behind that from Bass Pro Shops perspective. It may be cheaper to sponsor a car for part of the season but when you're shelling out for primary sponsorship for 3 cars part time wouldn't you think they are spending just as much if not more than one full time car? You'd think that they'd want somebody, whether its Tony, Jamie or Truex, to drive THE Bass Pro Car. When we were younger cars were associated with their sponsors because just about everybody only had one primary. You'd say the Tide car, Valvoline car, Kodiak car, Budweiser car, etc. I wonder why they wouldn't just want to get one car.

Let me clarify, the guy was an exceptional driver and probably did more with a car with no resources than anyone else in the history of the sport but he still doesn't have the wins. 5 wins in 9 years is a few years from being Michael Waltrip. jabro fucked around with this message at 03:48 on May 25, 2016 |

Squier is already in in a sense (Squier-Hall Award winner) or I would've voted for him. The CMT series bringing Fox, Byron, and Parks' stories to life may have swayed me a bit. None of it's going to matter when Brian France comes in the room and tells them to vote for someone again. theacox posted:Alan Kulwicki for HOF? My heart says yes but my head says no. I think some of it is the sense of the romantic, nostalgic lore that goes with "he died" combined with the recency of his participation in the sport which might still be fresh on fans' minds. On that same note, I'm surprised Davey Allison hasn't been nominated yet. e- "There's even a Blaney": https://twitter.com/TheBuzzerOnFOX/status/735226267042086912 I mean, the parallels are incredible and then you factor in a Blaney lurking in third. Ideally what the Hall should do for cases like this, and NASCAR has the connections and cash to do it, is put a large, warehouse style addition on the Hall and have either a reproduction, a car from the same season as, or preferably the championship winning car from each year on display in there. Also, make a rule from here on out, the Cup champion team gives up the last race of the year car to the Hall for good. That'd be a ridiculously good exhibit. Yeah, they held it for a year until the next winner came in My way is a bit easier for teams to stomach, mainly because the Cup is millions of dollars more than winning Daytona, and also because it'd be an intermediate car and they have tons of those

Sounds awesome to me - especially since not all championship winning cars were also perfectly intact and/or race winners. Matt Kenseth blew an engine and finished last at Homestead in 2003, and Rusty Wallace's car was falling apart laps down at Atlanta in 1989.

Hell yeah! I know I've got a physical copy of that picture somewhere. I always liked the red/white shooting star miller schemes over the gold or anything to follow though. And I guess that's pretty interesting that the two main beer companies both had twin team cars in red/white reverse color schemes in 1986. AND Elliott was in a red/white Coors car also!

Another old modified pic. My dad wasn't on the crew by this time, but this is the car Johnny O was driving when he was killed right in front of us nearly 30 years ago, July 10th, 1986. Johnny was a great guy to me the only time I ever met him, and this car was the 2nd race car I had ever sat in, Eddie Haenelt's crazy Buick V6 mod being the first, earlier that night.
