I wasn't sure which thread this should go in, apart from the fanart one in PYF, but it's pretty cool and comic related, so I'll chance and post it here. Source

It helps that Marvel, over the last few years, has earned the benefit of the doubt. In theory, they might have a good story to tell here.

Rebirth is being received positively? Why?

It's not, but everyone expected DC to do something stupid. Nobody really expected Marvel to turn the star of the hottest new summer blockbuster into a Nazi today. I think more people are freaking out about that because it was pretty out of nowhere.

It's pretty amazing that anyone that's ever picked up a comic believes this is an actual thing and not just a storyline. I remember when Dan Slott and Tom Brevoort swore up and down that Peter Parker was dead and Otto was going to be Spider-Man going forward.

Other than CapnAndy, I don't think a single person bitching about it actually has read a comic in their life. What's insufferable is that the complainers think they can somehow force a retcon, and will think they've "won" when the storyline concludes.

Anyone that actually read the book should see the clues that it's some kind of reality fuckery by Red Skull. The woman that introduces Steve's mom (and seems to know an awful lot about her) to Hydra in the flashback is named Sinclair and the only color in the otherwise black and white flashbacks is red, including her hat and scarf.

Is that her first or last name? If it's her first Spencer needs to study up on his French because it's a boys name without an E at the end.

Changing someone's reality to alter their behaviour counts as mind control and therefore it cannot be that because this is really Steve Rogers, Captain America himself.
