Yeah, like people make fun of failing upwards in Hollywood or the tech sector or whatever, but: Mike Kogan made his name by using Royce as a way to get his foot in the door whereupon he was part of Dynamite USA, where the whole thing was a disaster and his client tested positive for so many steroids that the lab equipment blew up when measuring his power level, parlayed this ultimate failure into the non-existent role of president of FEG USA, a fictitious division of a company set up to prevent K-1 getting caught up in a tax evasion scandal that jailed its owner, they secured a US TV deal for which they didn't get paid, and Mike Kogan himself was on commentary making racist jokes and saying things like he didn't know a 10-7 round was possible in a sport where knockdowns are counted, wrote a paid blog on some website where he couldn't stop his racism bubbling over Richard Nixon style and called Rampage a "house n ", used his PR skills to coach his most important client King Mo into publicly talking poo poo about the commission for suspending him for taking steroids, getting released from a contract that would've got him into the UFC, and is still constantly publicly racist. Then he used his expert negotiating skills to get Nate Diaz a worse contract which he repeatedly publicly asked to be released from. Like there's a bunch of people in MMA, particularly from the early days, who just kind of bumbled into some weird important position but long term can't really hold it down. But Mike Kogan has thrown up failure after public failure in addition to having the kind of social media no-nos that would get you weeded out of the admissions process for pretty much any job. He's like a third rate Ken Pavia and behaves like somebody quantum lept into his body and was instructed to ruin his career but he keeps getting better and better jobs somehow.
