Yukako is clearly sexist. She is the only female enemy stand user in Part 4 and her defining trait and motivation is that she is madly in love with a protagonist. On top of that she is crazy, which is a label almost exclusively given to women who act in a way men find undesirable. That she was created as a reaction to a trend of portraying all women as submissive moes isn't much as a defense, because he's just going to the other extreme of one dimensional female stereotypes. If you want to make a non-sexist character as a reaction to sexist portrayals by your peers then make a well rounded character.

That said, if you can't enjoy any media that has a hint of being problematic you're going to have a bad time.

The previous enemy stand users, in order
  • A serial killer
  • A kid who fought because his brother told him to
  • A kid who murdered people in the hopes of finding someone who could kill his father
  • An extortionist
  • A kid who made a classmate gouge out his eyeball

Okayasu is the only one of those who wasn't an awful human being in some way. My point being, pretty much every stand user they fight is lovely, and it's not like Yukako's motivations are somehow singled out as being worse than everyone else's

Yes, Yukako is totally sexist
Jojo is a series filled with casually offensive overtones.
But it's also decades old and tons of fun and pretty harmless in its use of cartoony stereotypes so really who cares?
Sexism being in an 80's shounen fighting manga and its direct adaptation shouldn't surprise anyone.

I sometimes wonder where the line is drawn between "A character who is simply crazy or psychotic" and "A sexist/racist/etc. character."

I think if Yukako actually had a reason for liking Koichi, instead of just showing up out of the blue to serve as a plot point, she wouldn't be seen as sexist.

Stand users are drawn to each other due to 「gravity」. It was probably a combination of that with him being more confident from his victory over Tamami.

e: Oh wrong thread, so that first part doesn't make sense, but they are drawn to each other. And in the 「manga」, 「Araki」 makes 「liberal use」 of 「quotation marks」 and some 「translators」 leave them 「in」 rather than 「changing」 them to "western style".

Yukako is pretty sexist, and the whole "crazy girlfriend" thing is, at this point, overdone to a ludicrous degree, but to be honest I've long since given up hope with the vast majority of shounen stuff so I can't bring myself to care overly much about something from the early 90s maybe being a little off, there are better female characters in later stories in Jojo, which is nice.

I don't think it's that Yukako is a sexist character in and of herself, so much that the only major female character (outside of Josuke's mother) is both psychotic and in love (and psychotically in love) with a male lead.

Sure, all the enemy stand users have also had major character flaws (to put it lightly), but you also have characters like Jotaro and Koichi who stand in contrast to them. There aren't any other female characters to stand in contrast to Yukako.

Next week's episode is DiU's, "Goku and Piccolo drive cars," episode. To put it into perspective how important this episode is, it features the scene used in the Phantom Blood OP to show off all the JoJos.

yeah, out of all the scenes they could use to represent josuke in the part 1 OP they picked a panel from next week's events. it's not important to the main plot by any stretch but it's a wonderful bit of worldbuilding and adds a lot of character to the setting as a whole.
