On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

Japan still has them but yeah IIRC XSEED was told by Sony that they're not allowed to print physical manuals for their Vita games. Sony probably doesn't want to pay the printing company to make the batches for them I guess.

It really isn't. Physical manuals are basically a complete waste of everyone's time. They increase physical release cost and waste resources for something trivially replicated in the game itself.

Yes, I remember the days of cool thick physical manuals and how neat it felt but "how neat it felt" isn't really worth it.

But if you're making games that are specifically for people who are hardcore gamers (as much as that term is cringe inducing) you should have the option to create a product that appeals fully to that market, which traditionally includes physical manuals and other 'tangibles'

Outlawing them full stop is ridiculous.

The *Playground* is for Taalo and for Orz, but *Campers* can go.
It more fun than several.
You can go there for too much fun.

So is Project Diva F 2 the only US Vita game with a manual then? I'm surprised Sony let them print that one.

It could be that there isn't a Vita manual standard, and they printed the booklet separate. That release also had the random VR card, so they had some other control over included items.

I miss physical manuals. I remember writing passwords in the Megaman X manual back when I was a kid, I even draw some doodles, but then I ran out of space after who knows how many runs I did and began writing them in the white box inside. :)

Yes but I was dumb enough to do it in the manual of a different game than I was playing so for months I was pissed I couldn't find my game password.

Vanillaware ltd.
I wish Sony would have some sort of system where physical games came with product codes, which would allow people to play them with or without the cartridge (and thus selling the game onwards would be pointless because the game couldn't be activated without a code), sort of like getting a lesser version of the game (digital) with your physical purchase as a purchase incentive, and in activating it ties it to your PSN. They wouldn't need to lower the price of their memory cards since people could just play the game physically, and might actually encourage people to buy memory cards if the person knows they don't have to buy the game twice just for a digital copy of the same game. Sort of like how buying a PC game though GOG or the like also gives you a Steam key (or key whenever it becomes available for that platform).

I miss the whole "turn to page 98 of the game's manual and paste the third word of the sixth sentence here:" types.

FES has somewhat better visual presentation, but P3P includes a few gameplay enhancements and the female protagonist option, who has some different (and generally more interesting) social links and dialogue options.

Apparently toggling the bilinear filtering option in the settings menu (hold the PS button) can help.

Does it not look any different at all? The Vita's screen has four times the resolution of the PSP so no upscaling technique is going to work miracles, but the filtering is at least supposed to help a bit. If it still looks unbearably bad to you, then you might just want to try your luck with emulation: it's supposed to be pretty good at this point.

It looks like a bit blurrier, but yeah, it's pretty unbearable. I only want to massive pixels when I'm looking at kinky Japanese porn and pixel art. Thanks for the advice though, despite the visual issues the game's plot already caught my interests.

Why won't anyone think of the trees?!

Seriously though, a lovely PDF manual is way better than a pile of paper these days. At least you can ctrl+f through that. As "neat" as full blown manuals with arcane DRM schemes and entire lore dumps were, good riddance. If there's one extra playable game released thanks to games not having manuals, it was a good tradeoff.

Wanted to have a gaming session on the toilet and I stupidly had my Vita slip out of the case and hit the sink and the floor and it cracked and the screen is just a white void now. Hopefully the Memory Card is fine, but I don't even remember the last time I synced my Trophies. R.I.P. Vita, in any case.

Thanks, friends - I did want to buy the Slim Vita, but not in such tragic circumstances. On the bright side the prices seem to have gone down to reasonable levels.

Does anyone know if there's any discernable difference between PCH-2000, PCH-2004 and PCH-2016? There's no outward difference and the specs should be the same - I couldn't look up anything interesting.

Sakurazuka

No that was because you were required to always be online with the Xbox One originally, they're just talking about putting a digital download code with the physical version. Sony would never do that though since the physical versions usually work out cheaper so they'd lose out on digital sales that way.
