Regarding shufflechat, I use a sleeved card in a different color as cut card, at least until I can get an actual cut card from a local casino. Since I can't riffle with sleeves, I mash instead. Typically I'll go mash, mash, strip cut/box cut, pile, mash, strip/box, pile. With seven shuffles of varying types it almost ensures randomness.

Kilo147 posted:I was told you're supposed to spend a full three minutes shuffling, so I found a way. This post is a delight. So the rule USED TO be that you got 3 minutes to sideboard and shuffle, not that you had to take all 3 minutes. However they changed that rule because people kept thinking you could take the full 3 minutes to shuffle if, for example you were up 1/0 and needed to Jim Davis someone. So now you just have to do it in a reasonable time.

First I pile shuffle, then I riffle shuffle until the deck is well and truly randomized before presenting it to my opponent to cut. Finally I put the Simian Spirit Guide, Amulet of Vigor, Golgari Rot Farm, Summer Bloom and Primeval Titan that I palmed earlier on top of the deck.

Corner case rules question- if I put a land card under a Hideaway land (Shelldock Isle etc.) and activate it on my opponent's turn, does the land card come into play?
|
# ? May 30, 2016 05:17 |

Sure. Shelldock ignores timing restrictions. Edit: on second thought, no. There is a rule specifically against playing land on your opponent's turn.

I know it's idiot behaviour but I find a lot of joy in cracking packs. If I have hanging around I don't mind overpaying for a selection of cards I don't necessarily want. I'm less than a booster box of packs deep in my MTG career but I enjoyed all of them, a lot.

You buy EMA boxes to put in a closet and sell a year later for $100 more. Or you draft them with friends.

After much internal debate I cashed in my GP tickets on SoI packs and cracked them in front of the TV in the hotel room. The stack of commons I left for the cleaners almost had a Westvale Abbey in. My 18 packs also had Sorin, Arlin and a couple of Always Watching, so not too bad at all.

Do you guys think that flip Jace and/or Narset Transcendent will go up? A friend is selling his collection that includes one of each for 40 euros, and I was thinking of grabbing it, mostly to flip (heh) Jace a few months down the line for profit, but I'm not too familiar with that kind of thing. My reasoning is that it sees play in Eternal stuff, and it's waning out of Standard, so comparing him to something like Breeding Pool, maybe he'll go up? Not really looking for sick MTG FINANCE GAINZ, but he's getting rid of them anyway, might as well, yknow?

He could be ok in modern maybe but playing a 2 mana 0/2 that takes at least a turn to do anything and even then doesn't do all that much in the Lightning Bolt format seems pretty bad. I think I've seen one game of vintage where he was good and several dozen where he was a card to pitch to Force at best. And even in that one game he probably would have been better as big Jace or a Snapcaster.

Last time I flew back to D.C for the wifeys birthday I brought my trade binder and a few decks to play some games at my old store with friends I had not seen in a few years. I just threw them in my usual FNM backpack because play mat/binder/decks still leaves me room for toothbrush, contact lens crap etc and a few pairs of socks/boxers BC gently caress paying extra for more bags. Cut to the TSA line, St. Louis airport. The lady goes through with her carry on no worries, I get x rayed as well and 10/10 no hidden shoe bombs can fly. Then they put my backpack through the machine. You know what a large stack of 3x3 cardboard looks like in a xray? Well it looks like 9 perfect stacks/bindles of cocaine slash heroin, especially when your fat rear end left a metal spoon that you used to eat your yogurt before round 1 in the bag at the bottom. After some splainin' and careful/slow removal of my cards to show that I'm not in fact the most clueless recreational pharmacist ever born they swabbed my rear end down and let the dog chew on me I got to board my flight but it was no fun AND the TSA agents did NOT want to learn how to play. Asking them to draft is a waste of time I'm p sure.
