Also, I just thought of a story from when I worked in a pet supply place. I remember this woman used to come in all the time for dog food, and at some point, her husband left her. She was worried about her son during this whole thing, so decided to get him his own cat (or, more accurately, get a cat and tell the kid it was his). Shortly after, she casually mentioned to me that her son liked to hold the cat and sing it to sleep. Carry on.
