Turned out he had wicked scoliosis and needed multiple surgeries to correct it. He just finished his second year of med school though so like, yeah, this is not a bad thing.

Yeah, I was bummed from the point that the physical therapist said that I am going to be NPQ'd to about 10 hours in to the drive home. But gently caress it, didn't work out and my shoulder is gonna be okay and I won't come out of this with a life altering injury where I can't move my left arm. I'm loving lucky though, my boss pleaded with me to come back and work for a bit while he finds competent people. Apparently he cleaned house in the month I haven't been there and needs to play catch-up on the hiring process. Wife's happy of course, once I told her that I got NPQ'd she apparently sent out her resume across the entire state of Washington and northern Oregon.. So yeah, 2 months and I'll be up in the pacific northwest. Not a huge fan of living in a big city, was thinking Vancouver or maybe Olympia...

My wife just got a job interview for some political consulting firm in Seattle, depending on pay and if she's into the job then we're probably moving up that way. My hopes is to land some cushy management gig in one of the surrounding cities using my nursing bachelors degree and public health masters. Make stacks and not have to fight Seattle traffic.

Washington seems like a good place to live, but unfortunately I have to much family close by to move. I rather have grandparents to pawn my kids off on the regular so me and the lady can have social lives, instead of being in a nice area I can't fully enjoy, because human beings are so helpless.

Do people still like Marines? I'm being voluntold to go to Boston's harborfest to baby sit. It's one those "liberty in deltas" thing that everyone swears you'll never pay for a drink at.

One time a buddy and I had $50 paid on our tab when the Marine detachment at DLI was put on uniform restriction. It sucked having to be in chucks or higher to go off base, but people were pretty cool to us during then. Had to pay for all of my drinks after the ball when we went into town on the birthday, though.

Yeah. I think it's gonna be fun. Only part that sucks is that I have to ride the bus and embark on an LPD from Norfolk. Instead of getting to fly onto it.

Sit up in the tower and tell the air boss what a bad rear end pilot you are. Bonus points if you put one of your stupid squadron stickers on the wall somewhere up there. Edit- in Tokyo area for the weekend. Any recommendations on places outside of Roppongi I should visit?

I, for one, welcome our new 23-pullup maximum score also no more flexed arm hang for ladies also you can do pushups instead of pullups if you want (to not get max points)

I thought that the run time was the entire reason why people were bitching about the inability to max out their PFT. Nice and hot piss fucked around with this message at 00:44 on Jul 2, 2016 |

Yeah I remember them talking about the fact that a vast majority can't max the run, and then welp looks like the vast majority will still not max the run. And now maxing pullups is harder. Moving BCP waivers out of HQMC/manpower and into first-general-officer is Good News though, as are the performance based waivers for BCP metrics.

Somehow I, as a 28 year old, am expected to be stronger than some kid 10 years younger with twice as much testosterone in his system. I know some chicks that are glad they don't have to cut so hard for weigh-ins and kill their lifts, though. Also kind of surprised they actually got around to getting rid of the flexed-arm hang. They'd been talking about it being "next year" since before I joined.

Internet Wizard posted:It's almost as if Marine Corps pt doesn't actually help I'd say Marine Corps PT does wonders for your endurance, I'll likely never be able to run as fast or hump as far with lots of gear than I did after OCS. That being said I think long distance humps with up to or over one hundred lbs of gear is a leading cause of health problems in Marines, and isn't likely worth the effort in the age of mechanized warfare. I'm now far stronger in overall better shape than 9 years ago when I joined, but I'd never of started taking PT as seriously had the Marine Corps not conditioned me to think of out of shape people as the lower lifeforms that they are.
