In all seriousness, NRx was codified by Moldbug and propagated by a handful of writers that even fewer people have heard of. It really, really wants to be taken seriously, and its proponents are ponderous, joyless thinkers and writers. It provides the intellectual backbone for this carnival of shitbiscuits.

The alt-right is the dumbed-down populist version of this, borrowing NRx's logic and conclusions but adding the 4chan and Reddit gestalt to it. If NRxers will post massive walls of text that bury the point in a load of unbearable manure, alt-righters lean heavily on catchphrases ("cuck"), "gotchas!" ("So you see, liberals are the real hypocrites!"), and post ridiculous charts about media conspiracies ("the Angry Birds movie is a metaphor for the refugee crisis in Europe").

The Dark Enlightenment is the umbrella containing both of these things, and also people who aren't explicitly members of NRx or the alt-right but are seen as natural allies, such as GamerGaters and white nationalists.

Actually, many of the people who defend their lovely trolling by saying that they're "just trolling" because it's "fun to see people get mad" actually hold some version of the lovely beliefs they profess in order to get a rise out of people.
