Magnetism idiots are the worst.

They could have just made a magnetic hovering pot, which would have been pointless but at least looked sort of neat, but no they have to drag in a bunch of new age bullshit about how magnetism is beneficial for plant life and all that jazz.

also don't plants turn their leaves to face the sun if you leave them to their own devices? I watched a weed i picked once turn around in a cup full of water for about a week

Yeah they do, so if you're planting in a window you want to turn the pot occasionally to get them to grow evenly. (at least for large/tall plants)

I started reading his business plan and was feeling kinda bad for him cause he clearly put a lot of effort into this and is investing his life savings into it ($200k), but then I saw he estimated $124,600 in total payroll costs for year 1, split across 7 people.

Where'd he list that? It's exactly what I was asking for and I don't see it.

The floating pot doesn't look bad but I bet the noise must be pretty annoying.
Also I'm not convinced by their new age hippie poo poo when their product advertises constant power usage for no reason. Anyone willing to guess how much that thing needs ? It says the adapter outputs 15W but not how much it takes.

I don't understand why it needs power in the first place, is it just for the rotation? I think a floating vase would be sort of neat, but if it requires electromagnetism to work then gently caress that.

You probably need to do constant adjustments otherwise the vase would just flip to whatever position and attach itself to the base I guess

It's basically a portable dehumidifier so there's no reason it shouldn't work, right? Except that to be at all useful, it'd have to be several orders of magnitude more efficient than commercially available equipment, and they haven't done the tech development yet so it's not like they have a breakthrough that would allow that. Either they're as clueless as the backers ($300k worth), or it's just a scam.

It's a flexible funding project on IGG and it cannot possibly work. Why do you think there are two possible explanations?

You can't magnetically levitate an object with only static paramagnetic fields.

But I still wouldn't pay $200 for a potted plant.

$200 is on the low end for Bonsai, so the people interested in this probably won't have any problem with the price.
