I enjoy Mudvaynes first album. Finally listened to the new Gruesome EP - it's loving great as expected. It is in the end still Schulinder worship but i'll loving take that over a lot of other things. Also Scream Bloody Gore got reissued on vinyl. I think that is it - the rest is all Roadrunner and that ain't gonna happen.

I imagine he still gets a fair amount from royalties and merch, as well. I mean, Pantera records have probably sold about as much as they're gonna sell, but I still see people wearing Pantera shirts all the goddamn time. It's funny, for a long time I assumed I was missing something with Pantera because I didn't much like them, but the more people I meet, the more I think that the people who like them just severely overrated them because they'd never heard something as heavy as I dunno, Drag the Waters before. Then again, I've noticed around here that any band that puts pot leaves on their merch has some degree of popularity, and people around here inexplicably love GG Allin.

Mudvayne sit on a weird fence where I can't decide if LD50 is smart people being dumb as gently caress or vice versa, its an idiot savant of an album

Is it weird that I've never heard anything from Mudvayne? Keep in mind I'm really old.

LD50 is certainly worth a spin or two. This diminishes as you move through more recent albums. First album is sorta like Primus on bath salts, lots of insane slap bass but with Corey Taylor vocals, then later albums are like Disturbed with ADD

As a youngster i stumbled onto Mudvayne live and thought their bassist was Wes Borland. Thats my Mudvayne story.

Mudvayne won an award on MTV for the song dig. I didn't know them but I remembered seeing some guys dressed as clowns get an award. Then at some point I saw something about Insane Clown Posse a year or so later and thought "oh these are the guys I remember seeing win that award", and then I spent about a decade thinking Mudvayne was the Insane Clown Posse. Thats pretty much my entire life experience with Mudvayne.

Hope it's ok to share older stuff. Long time since I was into folk but all the talk of Tengger Calvalry got me looking. Clicked sound unheard on this and it scratched the itch nicely. https://youtu.be/7YigTq6NEO4 Almost some Ritual vibes with a nice balance between vocal clean and BTBAM-ish lows. Super surprised to find it was released 2012.

My Mudvayne story is that for the longest time, I thought they were the band that made Change In The House of Flies because of shittily-named . I guess that makes it more of a Deftones story, but I don't think having a Deftones story is much of an improvement. For more worthwhile posting, the rerelease of Pig Destroyer's Painter of Dead Girls is still grindcore, which if your tastes are horrible like mine then that's a good thing. I wonder what album they'll rerelease next in place of making new stuff.

Brand does not matter, in fact even considering the brand brings your values into question. The MOST KVLT vehicle is the wobbliest $500 piece of poo poo you can spot on the used car lot. Dented panels and strange fumes coming out the tailpipe are a bonus. If you have aspirations of being in your own band, go for a station wagon or van. If you just go to shows, the cheaper, the better.
