Thanks, I found it eventually.

Now, the moral dilemma of the quest: to kill or not to kill? On the other hand, it would be kinda sad to kill the last surviving basilisk of a species, but on the other hand, it does attack and kill people, but then again, would it really leave them alone if they won't trespass? I don't think the Count is giving me the whole truth, either.

e: ha, he was right about the fact that the merchants don't give a poo poo if they are attacked since they get compensated anyway.

I guess I gotta think about this for a while

The difference between light and heavy armor is maybe a single hit on death march.

I went kill the griffin. The trade guilds are intentionally throwing people's lives away sending them in the dangerous land because they will get paid if the caravan gets through or if everyone dies. It's sad to see him go, but he's being used as a murder-for-profit machine.

What level are you? Most of skellige will be outright lethal to you on Death March if you just got to Novigrad.

You can ignore most of skellige to do lambert's quest, leave, and come back later if you want.

11, but I'm on whatever the default difficulty is. I've decided to get on with the main quest for the moment anyway.

New question, do alternate signs still activate all the usual talent effects, like the armor shred on the first Igni talent?

There is some Skellige stuff available in the later teens, but there's a fight with... level 15ish? enemies on the trip there. I would definitely not save Skellige for after Novigrad, once you get a few more levels go meet up with Yen in Skellige. I heartily recommend mixing it up and going back and forth between Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige for quests if you're getting a little bored of one zone. There's a lot of crossover of level ranges.

Yes, though I don't understand the love for Melt Armor. I'm pretty sure only humanoids have armor (maybe some monsters?), so it doesn't do anything against most enemies.

Get the first two tiers of Yrden talents, alt-Yrden is amazeballs and useful in almost every fight.

When I take melt armor, it's with the assumption that armor is like a built in stat of all monsters and humans and not just humans and creatures that are literally armored. If that's wrong, I'm not sure it's a talent worth taking.

I've been thinking of it as New Vegas style damage threshold but now I'm unsure.

Probably going to use that mod to add more skill slots though, only having 12 is getting insanely annoying. I know bnw gives you more but since like level 30 I've just been putting points into whatever because I'm never going to slot them. Daft design

Pellisworth

I did some quick googling and I didn't find anything conclusive, but it's been discussed before and it's mostly humans and humanoids actually wearing armor who have significant (or any?) armor stat to melt. Maybe also golems but I think I tested that and didn't notice a difference.

Melt Armor isn't effective against most monsters, but then again Igni in general is awesome against those same unarmored monsters. It's not bad, but it's not as good as you might think at a glance.

Haha I did it because this is the only game that has the balls to make a joke like this and a gameworld where it fits. Would this be possible in Skyrim or even Mass Effect? No. When AAA+ games present sex scenes it's some great holy union, crappy romantic candlelit bath or softcore porn and it's great to see a game that treats it like every other theme and can have (dumb) fun with it.

While the actual physicality of the act is pretty clunky to see still, this game's sex scenes--romance scenes is really a better term--are all pretty well-written and genuinely sweet at times. They all tend to occur at a point where it feels natural to teh characters--Geralt and Yen's even serves to actually advance their characters, particularly Yen, as you see another side of her, the one that likely won Geralt's heart in the first place. They're all different from each other too, and feel believable, even the "flings" like Keira, and maybe even moreso. Basically, the game is written about adults and for adults and it shows. I'd describe them as more "erotic" than "titillating" which is precisely how they felt in, say, Mass Effect.

EDIT: Just makes me think of those horrifyingly awkward scenes in Dragon Age Inquisition with the giant bull man. It's like a conversation about sex written by somebody who has never had sex.

In fairness to Mass Effect and Dragon Age, they are published and basically in all but name developed by people who are first and foremost interested in making games that parents will not throw a shitfit over. Mass Effect and dragon age style romance is a symptom of design by committee type process that tends to sterilize violence and sex as much as possible so the end product is something parents aren't completely uncomfortable buying for their older kids. complex and nuanced sexuality doesn't make it past that kind of stuff.

I also think Bioware writers are hacks, but that's personal taste more than anything.

I dunno, one of the writers went on record saying he thought Twilight was amazing and wanted to emulate that, and a lot of the later Mass Effect and Dragon Age games felt...for lack of a better word, they felt like they were pandering to a certain audience. Like, a teenage audience, basically. As I said, they handle sex with kid gloves, but not really in a sterile way, more like in a unrealistic or maybe even shallow way.
