I'm really really happy for the OP of that E/N thread

This is going to make me sound like an rear end in a top hat but I hope he comes up with a contingency plan so he doesn't wind up homeless again should he suddenly lose this job. Obviously it's a bit too early for him to think about it now since he's still in the process of pulling his life back together. About a year ago, the MET up and laid off a huge portion of it's full time employees for nothing more than bureaucratic cost cutting.

I'm not going to bring it up in his thread because I know he has anxiety problems and already has too much on his mind, i just hope he doesn't become complacent at this job and thinks to expand his skill sets at some point :shobon:

I don't recall a plan, just the emergency money that didn't last long enough. That's a good start but it obviously wasn't good enough. He's shown he's smart enough and has the study ethic to pass a certification exam, it was just bad luck that he wound up in a poo poo job with a poo poo company with the one he got. There's nothing stopping him from getting another one in a field he's actually interested in to make him more desirable.

For example, I have a couple of IT certifications that I don't actually use, but I keep current anyway just in case I wake up one morning and find myself out of a job. Those certs by themselves wouldn't get you a good job, but they would go a long way into a call center, some level 1 garbage, temp help work, or retail IT (which actually pays pretty drat good)

It sounds to me like the OP is a good, smart person who got dealt a bad hand and I don't want to see a repeat of this :shobon:
