What really annoys me about the SIARPC segments is the godawful car showdown gameshow Evans is trying to do. Stop it you ginger gently caress, it's not funny.

SIARPC is as bad as it's always been, I think. I dunno, I always skip it. gently caress that noise. Matt is going to be really good at this. Evans was more tolerable.

SIARPC is definitely worse than it was before, especially having one guest plug another's latest book/movie/album. Before at least Clarkson was funny. Evans is just annoying.

I do like having the other guest do the plug. It feels like something Craig Ferguson would do to mock the entire concept of guests coming on talk shows to plug poo poo. The problem is that without the news they're extending the objectively worst segment in the history of the show so they keep the same amount of studio time.

I'd forgotten how much of the run time is wasted on these garbage B-list celebrity interviews, christ. This show is a piece of poo poo train wreck. I love it, in a way.

Someone here said that they have already recorded the first 4 show's 'live' bits I will bet money that after the first trainwreck episode, they went back and minimised the amount of screentime the ginger twat had; and the easiest way to do this was to reedit and extend the SIARPC section.

I used to not mind SIARPC sometimes, but this new format is so badddddd. In addition to the interview format they track is wetter/dryer/dirtier between each lap and so is the car which makes it harder to compare in this completely scientific format. My opinion of Chris hasn't improved but Matt seems like he's settling in well.

VodeAndreas posted:I used to not mind SIARPC sometimes, but this new format is so badddddd. Agreed. The old format, Clarkson would interview them and converse with them. This new format, it's Chris Evans basically playing a game with them. You learn very little about the stars, even though it's longer.

I guess you'll find out tonight if you watch the episode they release for the world market. The one everyone saw yesterday is the one that aired on BBC specifically for the British viewing public. The one that will air in international regions tonight will have different music and possibly have edited content. Not that I think they need to, but someone might.

I think part of the problem with the new SIARPC is that it has even more "lol I'm richer than you can imagine" dickwaving. There was still a fair bit of that in the old TG, but now the "best car ever" competition really brings it to the fore. There's no discussion of someone's car history and why they chose what they chose, it's just who paid more money for a car.
|
# ? Jun 6, 2016 16:03 |
|
It used to be that it was kind of interesting because they'd just list of what kinds of cars they'd owned over the years. Now ti's just super lame. Eddie Jordan's was only interesting because he technically owned an F1 car. I don't really give a poo poo that gordon ramsey owns a La Ferrari because he probably never even drives it.

Other than the interview bit, that episode was a lot better than the first one. Maybe it was just that the challenge was a lot better, the cheating was sneakier, and they got the guests involved. Edit: hOly gently caress lmao https://twitter.com/achrisevans/status/739790145940033537

So last week the criticisms didnt matter becuase the viewing figures were off the charts (FACT), but this week they dont matter? Does he think we dont remember last week? You know, when they brought him out on the stretcher at the beginning of the episode, i thought they were going to say something like "Chris is bed-ridden because of the blistering internet criticism", which would have been kind of self-aware and even funny. Missed chance, there.
