The English naturalist George Robert Waterhouse first cataloged sugar gliders as the species "Petaurus breviceps" in 1839.

They either chill in my pocket or I have a pouch that they go in that I wear. Also they don't really fly, they just glide like a flying squirrel |

when i was a 12yo with a fresh new internet connection i researched for HOURS about these guys and printed off a sweet 3-ring-binder's worth of info for when i finally would buy/adopt one then a friend of mine got there first and ended up killing the poor thing by being a negligent chucklefuck. i think it got crushed behind his couch or something thinking about it is making me feel a lot of that adolescent anger all over again |

Judging from your pics you take excellent care of all your pets, that's always a great joy to see. I'd imagine a marsupial glider would require a quite a bit of maintenance and work to keep happy and all that, I admire your dedication! The literal translation of Sugar Glider to Finnish is Sugar Squirrel, which is v cute |
# ? Jun 9, 2016 16:23 |
Not really. You have to clean their cage often so that it doesn't smell like pee. You also have to watch to not over clean it so that they don't go on a marking spree and it smells like even stronger pee. Sometimes they can smell musky and its usually due to what you are feeding them. They also need to be fed mostly fresh food. I buy a bunch of fruits and veggies each month and make a giant salad and freeze it in individual serving bags. Along with their staple diet which is a mixture of baby food, protein, yogurt and honey thrown into a blender then frozen. e: you can also feed them crickets and mealworms, most love to devour those. |
