Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?

you have a working xl400? o_0

just got the XL400, don't know if it works. I need to pull the ESDI drives to ensure they don't eat themselves when I power it up, and the console definitely doesn't work right now (probably needs to be recapped).

I may even do that before I get it running, with OpenGenera (Symbolics emulator) and Meroko (TI Explorer)

OSI Bean Dip should also share how he's enjoying the TI Explorer that I sent him for yosmas 2015

Uuuungh I just upgraded to my first mechanical keyboard since adulthood and it's like sex for my fingers.

I went from some Saitek rubber dome "gaming keyboard" to a Corsair K70 with Cherry MX Brown switches (red only LED version. RGB wasn't worth sacrificing USB pass-through for) after wearing the left shift key out on the Saitek. It is worth every loving penny for anyone out there in doubt about switching to mechanical.

I'm still getting used to it and I am bottoming out hard on most keystrokes but it is such a nice feel and sound over the rubber domes.

I definitely want to give Cherry Blue switches a try some day, now.

a solid board for sure. I am proud of you. if you find yourself making lots of typos, tink about upgrading to clears.. if not then stay sweet. its one of the best boards money can buy

yeah that was my one concern, browns vs clears. i did make some typos at first but i think i was just getting used to the spacing and travel distance. now everything is great, i'm really liking this keyboard. if i buy another (maybe one of the small 60% size?) i'll probably try clears though

i'm really enjoying cherry greens tbh, they're nice and stiff and clicky. I'm sure in an office setting i'd be brutally murdered tho

some older IBM beamspring keyboards had a solenoid to make a loud clicking noise, like a typewriter. Later they were replaced with a piezo buzzer.
for bonus points your coworkers could probably use it to bludgeon you without damaging it.

idk if youd gain much benefit from greens over clears

im typing on blue right now. the clears I have at work are superior. and less clicky. blues don't have a nice mechanical switch sound, but a plastic click sound

wait, did they put in a solenoid that does nothing else than make pings? that's awesome lol

greens have a blue-style slider, with a much stiffer spring than clears. I don't mind the plastic clicky sound, and the stiffer springs are nice.
I kinda want to get a kinesis or something similar, in greens (never gonna happen) - mostly switched to greens because blues were far too soft for me and I was running into problems with hand pain. greens have been way better, but a split, bowled layout might help some more.
be nice if they were moving to full size keycaps for the F1-F12 row on the new ones, at least for the purposes of cool keycap sets.
