you probably haven't gotten that far but cooking is way simpler too. also crazy combos and special moves and skills. it does seem kinda easy though because im not sure they buffed enemies nearly as much as they did you, lol

I haven't but I'm excited. I only ever saw footage of Gwendolyn so I kinda can't wait to see what they did with the other guys, especially Mercedes

Mostly I was making a lame joke about localizations trying to pass off what is clearly high school as college, but I accept my failure.

I recall it from a couple dumb and otherwise forgettable things, back in the dark ages when anime sometimes came on vhs.

Stacking 4 cyclones, shoving an overload potion down your throat, and the ability to abuse skills make battling the final boss of each chapter easier yes.

But seriously gently caress playing the old version again. I am not going back to old Mercedes gameplay, that was loving terrible.

How do you get some of the hidden Phozon Prisms in Odin Sphere? In the skill tree you'll see the stage name, and then a description of where to find it.

I revisited the Snow area with Gwendolyn, and there's a mid boss stage that looks like it should have one. I've cleared it a couple times, even S ranking it, but all I've gotten is a couple potions. What gives?

How many chapters are there for each character?

I think it's 6, but I haven't finished up the first one to be sure.

I liked Odin Sphere a decent amount but man was it tedious at times, specifically having to play through the final chapter a billion times to get the best ending. I do wish I had just never played it before so I could play this version (which I may do anyway), but thinking about having to go through all of it again is just a bit too daunting at the moment.

There are seven chapters for each character - six, and then an 'epilogue', which is just another chapter.

If there's a skill that has a chest with a question mark on it, that can be found somewhere in a chest in the level - it'll be behind a hidden door somewhere. Sometimes there's combat behind said hidden door, sometimes not, but it'll always be hidden. There are places where there'll be a door just in the environment that doesn't show up on the map, but you still enter it with X + Up.

I like Odin Sphere a lot but gently caress this game is so long...each character could probably have two chapters cut with little to no recourse (I mean, the story would have to be changed obviously). I'm up to something like 35 hours and still have the last character to get through plus the final chapter plus the final final chapter.

they're in chests hidden in zones that don't show up on the map. basically, one of the rooms with no actual battle stage/ranking and elevation for you to play with will tend to have a secret exit attached to one of the ledges.

A few of the descriptions indicate that there is a hidden passage way to secret area. The icons on those skills tell you if you have to fight for it, have to find it in a hidden chest, or complete the chapter to obtain it.

Did that do that in the original Japanese version? Because there's definitely been localizations of other games that change girls' ages or omit them entirely because of the things they were being portrayed doing.

it's decent. Alchemy is really good but it still feels like a step back from the dusk games in most ways. It's also, even by Atelier standards, very aimless

They are just called Academy in the japanese version as well. Although there's a single line in Bon Appetit where the narration explicitly calls one of the girls a High-school student
