Trump is 100% in business for himself. Too many people fail to make the connection that when Trump talks about being a successful businessman, he's only talking about his personal success and not the scores of people left holding the bag when his business ventures inevitably run themselves into the ground. It's the people that invest in him or do work for him that get screwed the most, and yet people are lining up to put him in charge of an entire branch of the federal government.

Nonsense. He's not a racist, he's just using the phrase to mean "a foolish person." Or maybe he's quoting Alf. Yeah, that's it. He's quoting Alf! Who was also quoting a character with tourettes. So really, it's ablist if you say the anime-boob-fan is a racist.

Does this represent a watershed moment in American rhetoric? In that we've reached, "I'm not racist so long as I never say the n-word."

I think Trump supporters have simply become aware of the dogwhistle and it's function and hate the idea that they have to hide their bigotry behind anything. So Republicans who aren't bullhorning that poo poo like Trump are weak GOPe RINO losers, and being seen as weak or wrong about anything ever is like the #1 thing they fear the most.

Still incredible to me how silly this line of attack is. "People are voting for the politicians who promises to enact policies that they want!" Yeah dudes there is even a whole word to describe this phenomenon, it's called democracy. It's certainly not like the ultra rich republican backers expect anything from the politicians they donate to, heavens no!

Trump Fans Honor Sasha Obama’s 15th Birthday By Telling Her To Go Spear-Chucking In Kenya

quote:

Friday was a blessed occasion in the Obama house, with Sasha turning 15 and her older sister Malia graduating from high school on the very same day, it was surely a day with much happiness and celebration. That is, until racist Americans were asked to rain on a child’s birthday parade.

The comments include telling the girl that her mother is really a man and her father is a homosexual, that the entire family is destroying the country, that Sasha should go back to her Kenyan grass hut and spear chucking, and that she is not a real Obama at all. People, who have never even met a single person in this family are trying to tell Sasha Obama that she was purchased in order to create the appearance of family so that President Obama would be more easily elected, and thus, able to destroy America.[/quote]

Ryan grilled at Romney summit, where a CEO compares Trump to Hitler

quote:

Campbell Brown, a former CNN anchor and founder of the education news site the74.org, moderated the session with Ryan and grilled him about his decision. She told him that her young son, who knows and admires Ryan, came into the bedroom the morning after he had announced his support for Trump dismayed by the news.

How would you explain this to a child? Brown asked Ryan. The speaker appeared uncomfortable.

quote:

One of the toughest questions for Ryan came from Meg Whitman, the chief executive of Hewlett-Packard and a longtime friend of Romney's who helped bankroll a Republican anti-Trump super PAC this spring. Whitman asked Ryan how he could endorse someone with, in her judgment, such poor character and whose campaign has been based on personal attacks and division. According to two people present, Whitman said Trump is the latest in a long line of historic demagogues, explicitly comparing him to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

Not saying he isn't a bigot. But nobody sees themselves as bad. Someone happy and comfortable with passive aggressive economic racism who sincerely doesn't see themselves as racist could easily be disgusted by coaching to use racist dog whistles to appeal to outright supremacists.

To have the unwashed masses then not come through for him and have his election bid result in an embarrassing defeat would only increase antipathy toward the supremacist base.

Such a scenario could result in his sudden case of backbone denouncing trump. Others could as well. He could be hoping to become the nominee in the convention or something. But regardless of motive I think his open trump bashing could help turn Utah blue so I'm wondering if it's a motive that will hold past the convention.
